Chapter 5
I flashed her cold smile while staring at her. “Evelyn, something that you treasure might not mean anything to me.
“I can give you the room, even the man. But bear this in mind. Someone will snatch those things that you’ve snatched from others. You’re not his first woman, and you’ll never be his last.”
Evelyn’s face fell, and she smashed the plate she was holding. “Stop pretending! You’re just some trash that men are sick of! You’re all bark but no bite! Even if you don’t back down, Christopher will still choose me! If you don’t believe me, watch this!”
With that, she suddenly shrieked and messed up her long hair.
The next instant, she ran toward the balcony and jumped down.
With only one hand holding onto the balcony, she cried miserably in the rain as the cold night breeze swept across her. “Wendy, why do you have to do this to me?”
Before I could react, Christopher kicked the door open and barged in. He ran toward the balcony and pulled Evelyn up, then held her tightly in his arms.
When he walked up to me, he threw a tight slap across my face. “Wendy Sullivan, are you done?
Evelyn buried herself in his embrace and clutched her bump tightly with both hands, her voice feeble as she questioned, “Wendy, I’ve already apologized to you. Why can’t you go easy on me? The baby is innocent.
“After the baby is born, I’m willing to end my own life and repent for my mistake. Please don’t harm the Gardners‘ bloodline.”
Wearing a deep frown, I was about to speak when Christopher shouted coldly, “Wendy, get on your knees!”
I stared at him in disbelief. “You think I did this?”
After Christopher placed Evelyn on the bed, he turned around and walked up to me, his gaze full of hostility. “Why shouldn’t I be suspecting you? First, you sent Lyn abroad, then you pushed her deliberately. This is the third time! Wendy, how am I supposed to trust you?”
All the feelings I had once harbored for him vanished in mere seconds. Without giving me a chance to explain, Christopher carried Evelyn and strode out of the villa.

I had cut all the photos on the wall into pieces and burned them into ashes.
At 12:00 am, the agent sent a message. “Ms. Sullivan, someone wants to purchase the house at the original price, and they don’t want any discount. When will you be free to sign the contract?”
“I’ll sign it tomorrow,” I replied.
After that, I fired all the maids in the villa.
For the whole week, Christopher never showed up again.
There would be photos of him visiting the hospital from time to time. He was either registering at the obstetrics and gynecology department or taking medication on the first floor for Evelyn.
On the day of our wedding, Christopher drove the wedding car to the villa to pick me up.
When the door was opened, he was greeted with a stranger’s face.
He immediately frowned and asked, “Where’s Wen? Who are you?”
Meanwhile, Christopher’s assistant, Daniel Lynch, rushed toward him. He was panting as he said, “Mr. Gardner, we’ve got something wrong here. Ms. Sullivan sold this house, and she’s marrying into the Howell family today!”
As soon as Daniel finished speaking, Christopher’s face turned as pale as a sheet. “That’s impossible!”
He stumbled a few steps backward, then studied the exterior of the villa. There was no trace of any celebration happening; not a single decoration had been put up for the wedding.
Just then, Daniel’s words echoed in his ears.
