Chapter 6
Christopher staggered, almost losing his balance.
When he came back to his senses, he rushed toward Daniel and gripped his neck tightly.
Furious and emotionally unstable, he questioned, “What did you say? Wen is marrying into the Howell family? Is she insane? I’ve always been on bad terms with the Howells, and everyone in Jenville knows about this!
“Wen must be mad at me, so she released this fake news to the public. What are you waiting for? Look into that now! The wedding will start soon. If you can’t find Wen, you’d better get lost!”
Daniel didn’t expect Christopher to lose his temper. He was so terrified that he held his breath and left hurriedly.
Before Daniel left, he forwarded a video to Christopher out of consideration. It was a video of the wedding between the Howells and the Sullivans.
However, Christopher was confronting the new villa owner and merely thought Wendy had hired those actors.
Taking a deep breath, Christopher ignored the villa owner, who stopped him from getting in, and barged into the house.
All the old renovations they had done together back then had now been demolished. There wasn’t a single trace of them left in the villa. The photos on the wall were also nowhere in sight, as if they had never existed.
The villa owner panicked and shouted behind Christopher, “Who are you? I bought this house a week ago.
If you refuse to leave, I’ll call the cops!”
As though he couldn’t hear anything, Christopher searched every single corner in the villa like a lunatic.
The style in the room he used to stay in had already been changed. He couldn’t sense a hint of Wendy’s presence.
Christopher searched through every space in the villa. And finally, he lost all his strength. He collapsed to the ground and looked miserable. “Why has everything turned out like this? Wen
.. you still refuse to forgive me, huh?”
At the wedding venue, the staff called and asked when Christopher could pick up the bride. Christopher remained silent and ended the call.
He stared at the chat that he hadn’t opened for a week. His hands were trembling when he

tapped on the phone.
He still couldn’t believe that Wendy would run away on the day of their wedding. She had told him before that her biggest wish in her life was to marry him.
Over the week, he had been keeping Evelyn company in the hospital.
Evelyn had told him that women tend to get emotional and that Wendy would be fine after taking some time to calm herself down. Hence, Christopher listened to Evelyn and decided to ignore Wendy. He just hadn’t expected to lose the chance to talk to Wendy after not contacting her for a week.

He called Wendy. “Where are you? Wen, I’m here to pick you up. Why did you sell the house? Why didn’t you tell me? Can I call you? Don’t do this to me. I can explain everything to you. My feelings for you have never changed…”
Tears blurred his vision, and he had never been so panicked before.
He sent three messages to her, putting all his hope on them. Then, he wiped off his tears and saw three exclamation marks on the screen. Wendy had blocked him.

In an instant, his heart stopped beating. With every breath he took, an excruciating pain spread through every inch of his body.
He was in disbelief as he called the number, again and again. Wendy’s name appeared, then the screen dimmed again.
The same thing kept happening until he lost count of how many times he had called her. He forced a smile, tears streaming down his cheeks.
He looked outside, his gaze full of despair. He saw the lawn that they had taken care of together a month ago. They had wanted to plant Wendy’s favorite blue roses.
But now, his private jet had ruined the lawn, and the plants were all dead.
