Chapter 7
Everything was a mess, just like how Christopher felt at the moment.
Seeing that Christopher had finally regained his composure, the new owner of the villa slowly approached him and handed him a glass of water.
He said, “Are you looking for the previous owner? She sold the house to me a week ago. I heard that she found a better wedding house, and her wedding will be held today. You don’t
have to come here anymore. You should leave after resting for a bit.”
For some reason, Christopher was triggered by his words. He instantly stood up and punched the villa owner hard in the face. “Get lost! You have no right to talk to me! This is the house
for me and Wen.
“How much did you buy it for? I’ll pay you tenfold! Get out of this place now! I don’t want to see you guys around in the future without my permission!”
The villa owner fell to the ground. Covering his bleeding nose, he cried in pain.
Christopher ignored him and called the bodyguard to chase the villa owner out. Soon, he was the only person left in the spacious villa.
He recalled what Daniel and the villa’s new owner had said.
Christopher’s hands trembled as he took out his phone, trying to search the news about the
Sullivans‘ arranged marriage on the internet.
Just then, he noticed a message Daniel had sent. He played the video and saw a huge wedding on his screen. Samuel and Wendy held each other tightly. Behind them was a perfect blend of the boundless sea and clear blue sky.
That image hurt his eyes. Christopher raised his arm and wanted to smash his phone, but he suddenly paused. He recalled his promise to Wendy’s parents, he called them in desperation.
Tommy and Natalie had always been fond of him and only had acknowledged him as their son- in–law. As long as they could forgive him, there would still be hope between him and Wendy.
The call connected.
He couldn’t be bothered whether they could see him or not. He faced his phone and got on his knees, begging, “Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan, where is Wen? I thought we were getting married today. Why did she do this to me? Where is she? I want to see her!”
Christopher’s sob rang out. There was no response from the other end of the line, even after a long time.

When the wedding song echoed in his ears, the rhythm of the symphony made him feel as though something was pounding against his chest.
Christopher almost broke down, his forehead hitting the ground with a thud. “Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan, I was wrong. Please… Please give me another chance.
“I promise to take good care of Wen. Wen said before that she’d only marry me in this life. How can you bring yourself to see her marry someone she doesn’t love?”
His blood blurred his vision.
At last, Tommy and Natalie wavered. “Christopher, it’s not that we don’t want to help you. We only have some questions. Do you have a mistress, and did you get her pregnant?”
Dead silence ensued in an instant. Christopher’s voice was hoarse as he forced every single word out of his lips. “Yeah… But I didn’t do it on purpose.”
“You only like Wen because of the marriage and collaborations between our families. Am I right?” Tommy kept pressing, as if he was trying to expose him and crush his pride.
Christopher was awash with both guilt and agony. He tried to come up with an answer, over and over again, yet he just couldn’t bring himself to deny it.
Over the years, he had refused to admit his feelings for Wendy. It was as though he would ruin his own image as the Gardners‘ son if he fell in love with Wendy, thinking that would make people doubt his effort in his company’s projects and his achievements.
In fact, he had actually noticed the special feelings he harbored for Wendy. The moment he discovered he had secretly fallen for Wendy, he had had too much to drink. At last, he had been framed by his rival.
That had been the first time he confessed to Wendy that he had betrayed her. It was also his way of protecting himself.
