Chapter 5
I took the bank statements from Lisa, my fingers trembling slightly.
The black-and-white transfer records stabbed into my eyes like knives.
They had transferred my money in batches to Sarah’s account and those of their relatives.
No wonder those poor relatives had suddenly struck it rich overnight-not only buying luxury cars but also building mansions.
I held the statements up to Arnold’s face. “Your sister treated my money like her personal ATM? Have you no shame?”
Arnold’s face visibly panicked.
“This must be a misunderstanding!”
Seeing things going badly, Sarah suddenly plopped down on the floor and wailed.
“There’s no justice! I worked so hard taking care of my sister-in-law, and now I’m being framed!”
While crying, she secretly tugged at Arnold’s pant leg.
Arnold immediately caught on, putting on a pained expression.
“Cecilia, Sarah quit her job to take care of you. How can you say this about her? Doesn’t your conscience hurt?”
“Quit her job?”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “When did she ever work? She spends all day either shopping or hanging out at bars-you call that work?”
Sarah’s crying paused, then erupted into even louder wailing.
“My life is so hard! I serve you in sincereness and still get scolded!”
I couldn’t care less about her performance and turned to Arnold. “So this $600,000-how do you plan to pay it back?”
By now, many people had raised their phones to livestream, with comments flooding the screen.
‘Holy shit! Isn’t this that gold-digging scammer from before? He was exposed years ago!”
‘Arnold! I remember him! He’s scammed several rich women before!”
‘Cecilia is the founder of Vivian Enterprises! This guy is a total freeloader!”
Arnold panicked, reaching to knock down their screens, but security stopped him.
His face turned ashen, and threatened me in a low voice.
Cecilia, must you make this so ugly?”
sneered. “Ugly? When you were stealing my $600,000, why didn’t you think it was ugly?”
Seeing more and more people gathering around, Sarah tugged at Arnold’s sleeve, crying: “Arnold, can we go inside to talk? I’m scared with so many people watching.”
Arnold immediately took the opportunity to reach to pull me.
“Come on! Let’s find a quiet place to discuss this!”
I shook off his hand. “Whatever you have to say, say it right here!”
“Now you know about saving face? When you were falsely accusing me earlier, why weren’t you afraid of embarrassment?”
Arnold tightened his grip on my wrist.
“Cecilia, don’t push your luck!”
Chapter 3
He tried to drag me, but I grabbed the nearby railing and refused to let go.
Seeing my non-cooperation, he suddenly became vicious and shoved me hard.
“Ah!”
Caught off guard, I fell backward and hit the ground, my stomach cramping with intense pain.
“Ms. Cecilia!”
Lisa screamed and rushed over to help me.
The scene fell instantly silent, then erupted in angry rebukes.
“Animal! How dare you push a pregnant woman?”
“Call the police! Call the police now! This is assault!”
Many young women pulled out their phones to record.
“Guys in the livestream, did you all catch that? This man just tried to murder his own wife!”
Arnold and Sarah were completely panicked, standing frozen in place.
The comments had completely exploded.
“This guy has Asthenospermia! It’s a miracle Cecilia got pregnant, and he still dares to push her?”
“It’s been exposed! Arnold’s ex-girlfriend revealed he can’t have children at all. If something happens to Cecilia’s pregnancy, he’ll never have children in his
lifetime!”
“Sarah isn’t any good either! She previously scammed money from her best friend! Now she’s targeting her own sister-in-law!”
Someone at the scene directly read out the comments, and Arnold’s face grew increasingly darkened.
I clutched my stomach, enduring the pain, and looked at him with a cold smile.
“Arnold, didn’t you want a divorce? Fine, let’s go to the courthouse right now.”
He reached out to help me, but his eyes burned with anger. “Cecilia, I didn’t mean to do that just now.”
I shook off his extended hand. “Not intentional? If anything happens to this child, I will never forgive you!”
“Didn’t you say I was ruining this family? Lisa, show everyone all the evidence you found!”
One by one, the detailed bills were held up to the livestream cameras.
“September 5th, Sarah, hotel consumption in Atlantic City, $48,000.”
“October 2nd, Michelle Lee, half-year rental for oceanfront villa in Miami, $89,000.”
I sneered coldly. “Even your foster sister’s friend is included-you people are truly greedy!”
The crowd was completely enraged, with some directly pointing at Arnold and shouting.
“Gold digger! Get lost!”
Arnold, humiliated by the scolding, suddenly lunged toward Lisa, raising his hand to strike.
“You’re the one stirring up trouble!”
Lisa stumbled backward in fear, but the surrounding crowd immediately rushed forward to stop him.
“Arnold! You dare touch my employee!”
Everyone spoke out in condemnation, their earlier contempt for me now transformed into rage against Arnold and his foster sister.
“Domestic abuser! Call the police!”
Chapter 5
“Don’t be afraid, Ms. Cecilia! We’ll all testify for you!”
“This man is disgusting-living off his wife and still hitting people!”
Suddenly, Sarah stood up and pointed at me.
“Cecilia, stop playing the victim! You’re cheating on the side! I have proof. Otherwise, how could a woman like you have the money to build such a big company!”
