Chapter 19
Jasper wheeled Esther to the hospital ward and noticed the medical professionals rushing Tinkerbell off for emergency care.
Esther grasped the doctor’s hand and pleaded, “Doctor, I’m Tinkerbell’s mother. I believe my bone marrow matches. Please, operate on my daughter right away.”
The doctor gently pried her hand away and hurried off without a response.
Jasper held Esther’s shoulders and said sadly, “Let’s go to the nurse for a detailed test. We can’t keep the doctor from saving Tinkerbell.”
“Okay.”
They went to the nurse, who immediately noticed the marks on Esther’s arm from having her blood drawn. Seeing how weak she looked, the nurse said seriously, “Ma’am, we understand your feelings, but your current condition cannot support you through this surgery at all.”
This was a public government hospital with dutiful and ethical doctors who wouldn’t overlook a patient’s health.
“Please, I beg you to run the test on me first. Please!” Esther pleaded.
Jasper also pleaded with the nurse, “Miss, the patient is her daughter. Please understand a mother’s heart. Let her do the test first. If it’s a match, we can do the transplant when her body allows it.”
The nurse gave Esther a meaningful look. Seeing Jasper so close to her while he had been occupied attending to Tinkerbell’s illness, the nurse naturally assumed they were a married couple.
“I don’t know how you took care of your kid. How could you wait until she’s this ill to bring her to the hospital? You’re completely unqualified to be her parents.”
The nurse followed the procedure and took Esther’s blood for lab tests.
After the blood test, Jasper pushed Esther’s wheelchair outside the operation ward.
Seeing her dried lips and extremely weak state, he texted his men to send some easy-to-digest
food.
Tinkerbell was still being treated in the operation ward, and Esther anxiously awaited the test
result.
Each second felt like torture to Esther.
Jasper couldn’t bear seeing her teary eyes and comforted her softly, “Esther, close your eyes

for a short break. You’ve found Tinkerbell now. It won’t be long until you get to spend quality time together.”
A tear slid down Esther’s cheek.
As the nurses wheeled Tinkerbell for emergency care, Esther caught a glimpse of her adorable and obedient face. She was such a wonderful child, but why did she have to suffer like this?
‘I’m the one who made the wrong choices. I loved the wrong person.
‘If I have to pay the price for that, why is it my daughter who is suffering?
‘Why is it my daughter who has to bear the consequences?’ Esther thought bitterly.
Her heart ached so much that she could barely breathe. She thumped her chest and sobbed heartbrokenly.
Esther had dark thoughts. ‘Bradley Warner, how could you be so heartless?
‘You can hate me and hold a grudge, but why must you be so cruel as to take when they were born and lie to me that they were dead?

‘Felix isn’t your only child.
‘Pixie and Tinkerbell are your children, too.
‘They’re not just my daughters. They’re your kids!
‘Why don’t you believe me?
‘Why don’t you?
‘Why!?’
Jasper gently patted Esther’s back, feeling anguished for her.
