My husband wants 23

Chapter 23

Bradley had a vague answer but couldn’t say it aloud with certainty.

Clark put on his glasses and took the photo from Bradley. He examined it for a moment before saying, “Mr. Bradley, that’s Madam. Your parents were in a car accident on a business trip, and Madam saved you on the spot. You must have suppressed the memory of your parents’ death.”

Bradley was shocked. He stared at the girl in the photo, who had Esther’s eyes.

“S-So…”

Clark nodded. “Sir, Madam is your savior.”

Bradley felt like his world had been turned upside down. He had never expected the woman he resented to be his childhood savior.

“Why… didn’t you tell me?” Bradley asked.

Clark shook his head sadly. “You didn’t even have that memory. Telling you the truth would only have hurt you more. You met Madam much earlier than you thought. Please stop holding a grudge against her. I don’t believe she was responsible for Mr. Thomas’ death either.”

Clark’s words pierced Bradley’s heart like needles. He felt a splitting headache and agony.

He didn’t know. He didn’t know that Esther was his savior.

If he had known, would he have treated her differently?

If he hadn’t been so cold and ruthless to her, would the many tragedies that followed have

been avoided?

“Clark, I don’t believe it.”

Bradley denied the photo Clark had shown him after calming down.

He had no memory of it.

Technology was so advanced these days. He could produce hundreds or thousands of similar photos if he wanted to.

One photo didn’t mean anything.

Clark then took out a thumb drive and played the contents on the projector in the study.

It was a surveillance recording. A Mercedes-Benz flipped several times in the air and landed on the ground. Fuel leaked from the back of the car, and a hand stretched out from the inside of it.

A little girl ran over from a distance and bravely pulled a boy out of the vehicle. Just as the two

of them were trying to flag down passing cars for help, the car exploded.

The boy, who was closer to the car, bore the brunt of the explosion and passed out from the force. The girl used all her might to drag the boy to the side.

At the same time, passing cars finally stopped.

“Sir, this is the surveillance recording clip Mr. Thomas obtained from the police. It was a long time ago, and the resolution isn’t very high. Still, you can see that it’s you in the video,” Clark

said.

He paused for a moment before adding, “I have nothing else to say if you still want to deny it.”

Bradley watched the surveillance clip over and over again. He desperately tried to find any signs of editing that would prove to him that the brave little girl wasn’t Esther.

But it was in vain.

“Sir, you probably understand now why Mr. Thomas’ will is written the way it is,” Clark said. Bradley could only taste bitterness in his mouth.
