Chapter 42
Cole was terrified at the mere thought of Esther dying if they were just a second too late. All he could think about was that Esther must not die under any circumstances.
Back in the hospital ward, Bradley’s anger flared up as he noticed the oxygen tube had fallen off near the pillow. He thought that Esther was up to her old tricks again.
As Bradley moved to reattach the oxygen tube, Felix slowly opened his eyes shrank in fear, stammering, “D–Daddy…”
and met his father’s furious gaze. The boy jolted and
Upon hearing Felix’s voice, Liliane rushed to him and hugged him lightly. She buried her head in the blanket, sobbing with relief. “Oh, thank goodness, thank goodness you’re alright, Felix
Felix felt uneasy as Liliane embraced him. He recalled her harsh words, which s
sent shivers down his spine.
He wondered whether his father would believe everything that had just happened, but he wasn’t sure and didn’t want to take the risk.
Then he thought of someone else–Grandpa Clark, who had been there for him throughout his life. Clark had always said he would believe whatever Felix told him. (1
“Mommy, I’m hungry…”
Hearing Felix’s cute, innocent voice, Liliane pulled back and pretended to be concerned. “Our Felix is hungry. Wait here. I’ll get some chicken soup for you. It’s your grandmother’s homemade chicken soup. It’s so delicious!”
“Thank you, Mommy, thank you, Grandma,” Felix thanked her obediently, with a lovable expression.

When she saw Felix’s blood–red ear, she couldn’t help but sneer. She wished the annoying little brat would just disappear from her life already.
Playing the best mother in the world every day was truly exhausting!
“I’ll leave Felix to you, Brad,” Liliane said as she left the ward, her eyes slightly reddened.
Felix grabbed Bradley’s finger and looked at him pitifully with his teary eyes. “Daddy, can I see the pretty woman who donated her bone marrow to me?”
“Felix.” Bradley’s tone suddenly became firm. “No.”
He would never allow Esther to have another chance to hurt Felix.
Felix’s eyes welled up slightly as he explained in an innocent voice “But… she saved me.”
“Let’s focus on taking care of your health first.” Bradley concealed his anger toward Esther, calmly telling the doctors and experts nearby, “Conduct a full–body examination on him immediately.”
“Yes, sir.”
The doctors and experts surrounded Felix at once.
Bradley accidentally stepped on something hard on the ground as he stepped out of the circle. Frowning, he picked up a lighter from the floor. When he saw the pattern on the lighter clearly, his eyes widened, and his lips trembled slightly.
