The lighter bore the inscription “Eternal Love Cemetery“.
Was this the same lighter Esther had just threatened him with?
The mint green lighter contained no liquid. What could this signify
Bradley clenched the lighter tightly, his knuckles and nails turning white. He pressed his lips together, and his intense gaze seemed capable of burning holes through the object.
After a thorough full–body examination, the doctors and experts assessed Felix’s condition.
A few minutes later, one of the doctors approached Bradley gently and said, “Mr. Bradley, Mr. Felix is doing fine. However…”
The doctor hesitated, unsure whether to bring up a certain matter
“Just what?” Bradley inquired.
“Just that there’s a fingernail mark on Mr. Felix’s ear,” replied the doctor.
As the doctor spoke to Bradley, Felix took the opportunity to discreetly slide his hand under the pillow to grab the pen recorder, his heart racing with anxiety.
Where should he hide the pen recorder to ensure Liliane wouldn’t find it? His eyes darted around the room, but he couldn’t find a suitable spot. Ultimately, he decided to tuck it into his shirt pocket, clutching it tightly.
His gaze then fell upon his smartwatch on the bedside table. He picked it up, found Clark’s number, and made a call.
“Grandpaw Clark, it’s Felix. I miss you so much!”
Clark chuckled warmly upon hearing Felix’s voice. “I miss you too, Mr. Felix. Were you brave during the surgery?”
“I was super brave!” Felix replied cutely. “Grandpaw Clark, can you bring Thor to my room?”
“Is there anything else you’d like besides Thor?”
Felix whined adorably, “I also want to see you, Grandpaw Clark.”
“I miss you too, Mr. Felix.”
Given Felix’s stable condition, Bradley didn’t interrupt his call with Clark.
When Felix hung up, Bradley asked, “Felix, why do you suddenly want Thor?”
“Because…” Felix blinked his bright eyes. “I want to fight bad guys like Thor!”
“What bad guys?” Liliane approached with a thermos. Upon hearing Felix’s lively voice from afar, she could not help thinking how lucky the kid was to still be alive.
“Mommy, I want to beat up the bad guys just like Thor!”
Liliane reached out to affectionately pat Felix’s head, but he dodged and seemingly unintentionally complained, “Mommy, my ear still hurts from when you pinched it earlier.”
Liliane froze, forcing a smile. “Let me see.”
“Look!” Felix showed his ear to Liliane and said loudly, “The doctor said there’s a mark!”
Upon close inspection, Bradley found a faint fingernail mark, just as the doctor had mentioned. It was a light red crescent mark.
“I’m sorry, Felix. I got carried away and hurt you. Mommy will be more careful next time.” Liliane begrudgingly apologized. She recalled Felix had never dared to tell Bradley about it before, yet he had spoken up now.
