Chapter 489 The Snake Strikes
To the upper echelons, longevity was worth any price.
And Sierra had just mentioned life extension. White believed she could actually make it happen.
The uproar that would cause was easy to imagine.
But he didn’t want fame

only silent fortune.
And he needed Sierra to cooperate.
But now he couldn’t even see her face.
As soon as he hung up the phone, his handsome features twisted with rage.
He hadn’t meant to take things this far. In fact, he did have some genuine fondness for Sierra. She was intelligent he needed her brain..

But despite all his tactics, he couldn’t drive a wedge between her and Johnathan.
Now, he was done waiting. Force was the only option left.
He called Nate.
“Sierra has a younger brother. She cares about him, doesn’t she?”
Nate instantly caught on.
“You want to use her brother? She’s holed up in the Wynn family estate. I can’t get to her. I’ve got to try something else. I can’t get her to come – but her brother just might.”
White’s voice was dark and menacing.
Nate thought for a moment. “Alright. I’ll handle it.”
But instead of handling it himself, Nate passed the job to Shane
He’d brought Shane into the fold now it was time to show what Shane could do.

When Shane received the “assignment,” he smiled.
After all this time, Sierra was falling back into his hands.
He stayed in the study a long time, thinking everything through. Then, he called Johnathan.
When Sierra received a call from Dickson, she didn’t think much of it and went straight over.
It had been a while since the two siblings had eaten together.
Dickson had said he had something important to share. Sierra assumed he’d made a breakthrough – he’d been training under Mateo lately. Mateo had even praised his talent, saying that while Dickson wasn’t the best with networks, his hands–on abilities were top–notch far better than Mateo’s.

But as soon as she entered the room, she lost consciousness. When she woke again, two hours had passed.
Her neck ached faintly.
She reached up to touch it, only to feel the sharp sting of pain.
Just then, Dickson rushed in.
“You okay? What happened? You suddenly passed out! I just called Johnathan.”
“I’m fine,” Sierra reassured him. “Probably just haven’t been resting well lately.”
Johnathan arrived quickly and whisked Sierra away. Dickson followed right behind.
After they left, a man stepped out from the shadows of the private room.
It was Shane.
He dialed Nate.
“It’s done.”
The whole operation had been livestreamed – Nate saw everything.
He spoke with approval.
“Mr. Shane really is sharp.”
Shane hadn’t used threats or force. Just a bit of well–timed manipulation had sealed the deal.
He’d hacked into Dickson’s phone, mimicked his tone to message Sierra, then used Sierra’s phone to reply to Dickson. The time gap was barely three hours. Neither of them had suspected a thing.
Far cleaner than kidnapping Dickson – and much lower risk.
At Nate’s praise, Shane curled his lips into a smirk.
“Not much choice. Johnathan’s too smart and has too much power. If we actually kidnapped someone, not only would we never see Sierra we’d down with it.”

“Exactly. Mr. Shane knows what he’s doing.”
Nate was pleased. He wasn’t a lunatic like White – he had no intention of going head–to–head with Johnathan.
“By the way,” Shane asked, “what does that chip we installed do?”
Nate looked at him without replying.
Shane raised an eyebrow, smirking. “What, I’m not allowed to know? Or do you think I’m not qualified?”
Seeing he was displeased, Nate reconsidered.
“You misunderstood, Mr. Shane. Now that you’ve joined us, of course you can know.

“That’s our latest chip. Aside from brain optimization, it can also manipulate emotional responses.
Shane lifted a brow, clearly impressed.
“Now that’s a handy little thing.”
“Of course,” Nate said proudly.
He had been part of the original development of the chip his interest was more than technical.

The two chatted a bit longer before Shane ended the call. Then, he picked up a different phone and said flatly:
“You heard all that.”
“Thanks for this,” came the voice on the other end.
“I didn’t do it for you,” Shane replied, and hung up.
He turned toward the window.
This time, he really had helped – but she would never be grateful.
In her eyes, he was still the villain.
Good thing he had never cared about her gratitude.
