Chapter 1
I was getting married, but my boyfriend of eight years still didn’t know.
Because he recently hired a female secretary, he was extremely busy.
The two of them hit it off immediately and had a delightful conversation.
To celebrate her birthday, a ten-layer cream cake was ordered.
The cake was spread everywhere at the party, but they forgot that I was severely allergic to cream.
The moment I opened my eyes after being taken away by the ambulance for rescue.
I agreed to the arranged marriage at home.

Mom was very efficient.
As I was returning from the hospital, I was just about to swipe my face to enter the door when she sent me over a dozen wedding plans to choose from.
My finger slid along the screen, and my gaze lingered on the last message.
“Mom had known long ago that you wouldn’t end up with Lucas Harper. How could someone who genuinely wanted to get married drag you along for eight years? It’s not too late to realize it now, the wedding plans have long been prepared
for you.”
“The wedding was scheduled for three days later, you slowly pack your things, no need to hurry.”
Everything was so clear in the eyes of the bystanders.
I, however, was deeply trapped and unable to extricate myself because of Lucas’s empty promise.
“Mom, you can choose, I like all of these. Just keep the wedding simple.”
Lucas didn’t know when he walked up behind me, heard the word “wedding,” and exclaimed, “Wedding? What wedding?”
He was just about to peek at the screen on my phone when I quickly put it away.
He had intended to reach out and grab it, but the next second, his phone rang.
The night was too quiet, so quiet that I could even hear a woman’s panic and fear.
“Lucas, I just went downstairs to buy something, and it seems like I was being followed! What should I do? I’m so scared, I
went around the neighborhood but couldn’t shake him off!”
Lucas’s face suddenly changed color; his eyes filled with nervousness.
“Miah, don’t be afraid. To find a well-lit place, the security room should have someone on duty. You go there and wait. I’ll be there right away!”
He hung up the phone, and the matter of the wedding was completely forgotten by him.
He once again left me alone without hesitation, turned around and rushed into the darkness of the night.
