didn’t come because I was too disappointed in you!” he shot back. “Do you think I don’t know your tricks? I had Kerry checked out right before I left. She was perfectly fine. There was no way she was going into premature labor.” He squared his shoulders. “You deliberately induced a miscar- riage to ruin your stepmother’s honeymoon. Why would I save someone so vile?”
There it was. He still thought Kerry had done it to herself.
“Cole Sterling, do you have any idea the poison you’re spouting?” I screamed. “Who would risk their own life over something so petty? If you don’t believe us, why don’t you believe the medical records? Go on! I dare you to look at her chart and see what caused the abruption.”

My father’s eyes widened in shock.
Penny grabbed his arm, her face a mask of anguish. “Cole, please, don’t. Let’s just let the past be the past. It was all my fault.”
He gripped her hand. “No. Today, I’m getting justice for you.”
Before he could explain how, there was a sharp knock at the door.
Two police officers stepped inside. “Excuse me,” one of them said. “We’re looking for Penelope Sterling.”
The moment she saw the uniforms, Penny’s expression curdled. She shrank behind my father.
Seeirra her reaction. I didn’t hesitate. “She’s Penelope Sem SAU…………………………

Seeing her reaction, I didn’t hesitate. “She’s Penelope Sterling,” I said, pointing.
The officers stepped forward, pulling out a pair of handcuffs.
My father blocked their path. “Officers, I’m her husband. What is this about?”
