The Alpha Who Lied 13

Chapter 13

Adam clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles cracked. His bloodshot eyes were misted over, emotions spiraling out of control. With a roar of rage, he smashed the laptop hard against the floor.

Out of control, he kicked over the tower of red wine glasses, shattered the giant screen, and snatched the papers scattered among the broken glass then crushing them in his hands. The shards cut into his skin. Blood stained the white pages and dripped to the floor.

Then suddenly, he laughed.

Tears spilled from his eyes as he laughed like a madman.

“Baby, you must hate me now, don’t you? You’ll never forgive me again, will you…?”

“How could I have been so arrogant, thinking I could keep this from you…”

Staggering back a few steps, Adam felt as if his heart had been sliced open by a dull knife. The pain coursed through his body with every pulse of blood, until it became unbearable. Even his wolf let out a low, agonized whimper with regret.

Anna stood off to the side, already completely stunned. She had never seen Adam like this before.

The always composed and rational Alpha had lost his mind.

She didn’t dare speak. Even her breathing became cautious. She just wanted to get out of there.

Suddenly, Adam turned to her, making her body jolt in fear.

“Adam, don’t be sad. Chelsea will come back. If she’s upset, I… I can leave,” she stammered, forcing herself to offer

comfort. Her usually seductive face was now contorted with fear.

Adam let out a cold laugh and walked toward her.

“You don’t have to go. You’ll be staying by my side.”

She watched him calm down and felt a flicker of relief, thinking maybe Adam still loved her. But the words that followed

sent her plunging into an icy abyss.

“Once I uncover every single crime you’ve committed, I’ll make sure you learn what it means to live a life worse than

death.”

The murderous look on Adam’s usually gentle face was unmistakable. He ordered his betas to take Anna away.

Anna was too terrified to speak. It wasn’t until they were dragging her out of the pack hall that she finally started to think about pleading.

“Adam! I’m innocent! I swear!”

Adam closed his eyes, but unable to erase the scenes he had just seen. Chelsea’s pale, suffering face haunted him like a curse, clinging to every corner of his mind.

He fought to stay calm and regain his composure as he left the pack hall.

He immediately ordered Jeremy to investigate the person who had bought Chelsea’s parents’ house.

He made up his mind no matter the cost, he would buy it back.

“Alpha, we meet again so soon.”

Deacon looked up from his seat, unable to resist a smirk at Adam’s haggard appearance. “Alpha, do you really think

buying Chelsea’s parents’ house will somehow make up for everything you did?”

“Cut the crap. I’ll pay triple. Sell it to me.” Adam’s face was dark and cold.

“No, I won’t.”

“Whether you’re willing or not, you’re selling it. You’re just a lawyer. What gives you the right to stand against the Alpha of the bloodmoon pack? Ten times the price. You have one day to hand it over. Then you’ll close the deal with my beta.”

Adam’s voice was icy, a threat hidden in every word.

Deacon simply smiled, unbothered. He stood and made his way toward the door. “You’re welcome to try, Alpha. I have

other matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave.”

Adam’s eyes narrowed, watching Deacon’s back intently.

“You know where my Luna is, don’t you? She had you deliver the documents. That means you’ve been in contact with

her!”

His voice rose as he got agitated.

“Where is she?”

“Alpha,” Deacon stopped and turned slightly, his voice turning sharp, “Chelsea isn’t your Luna. Legally, you have no right to

call her that. And morally, you’re even less qualified. You betrayed your mate bond. Do you still remember?” Deacon said

coldly.

His words stabbed into Adam like knives.

Adam took a deep breath, forcing himself to stay calm. “What’s between me and my Luna is none of your business. Just

tell me where she is.”

Deacon didn’t respond. He turned and walked away.

Adam chased after him and grabbed his shoulder to block his path.

Deacon swatted his hand away in disgust, but Adam lunged again, grabbing him by the collar.

“I’ll give you one more chance. Tell me where she is.”

“You don’t deserve to know.”

Adam’s fist slammed into Deacon’s face. Deacon didn’t hold back either. He struck back hard.

Adam stumbled, losing his balance. He crashed into the glass door beside them.
