“Niamh? What are you doing here?”
Marina’s voice rang out from behind, making Niamh sigh inwardly
No matter how hard she tried to avoid her, Marina’s sharp eyes had still manager o spot her
Marina looked as if she’d just stumbled upon some grand discovery her we practically glowing.
Without hesitation, she grabbed Susy and hurried over to Niamke side
“Are you working here as a waitress?”
She gave Niamh a once–over, and the uniform said it all
“This is too much,” Marina said with mock sympathy. “After your company folded even asked Jonathan if he could help you out, but he refused. I mean, ffought he was being heartless too, but I couldn’t really go behind his back, you know… Working here must be tough for you, huh? Here, I’ve got two hundred dollars–just take it.”
Marina made a show of digging into her purse and pulling out two crise
hundred–dollar bills, handing them to Niamh.
Her little performance left Niamh speechless.
She knew perfectly well that Marina was just rubbing salt in her wounds.
But the words barely stung.
“Come on, Ms. Thornton, I know you carry more than a couple hundred myour wallet. And if you’re so beautiful and generous and truly want to sponsor me, let’s. cut to the chase–just transfer me ten grand. I promise, I won’t breathe word to Jonathan.”
Marina was completely caught off guard by Niamh’s response.
She’d meant to humiliate Niamh with those two hundred dollars.
Now, as her face went rigid, Niamh flashed her a little smile.
“What’s the matter? Didn’t you say you wanted to help me? I’m giving you the perfect opportunity. Don’t waste it.”
“You-” Marina was so flustered she nearly bit her own tongue, her face turning

bright red.
“You’re shameless!”
Niamh’s expression shifted only slightly, and she didn’t bother to be polite.
“Says the queen of shamelessness herself. You were the one who offered to help me. Be grateful I’m not calling you out for being fake.”
Beside them, Susy rolled her eyes at the commotion and cut in coldly:
“Niamh, you work here?”
“…Yes.”
“So is that how your manager taught you to talk to guests?” Susy snapped her fingers. “Go get the floor manager. Now.”
Alfven, the floor manager, came hustling over at once.
“Ms. Fraser, is there a problem?”
“You’re fired,” Susy said flatly.
“What?” Alfven’s face went pale.
Only then did Niamh realize that Susy was the owner of the Grand Riverview Hotel.
Alfven was Lana’s relative–Niamh had only taken this job at Lana’s suggestion, figuring it was better to work somewhere she knew someone rather than start at a place full of strangers.
She never imagined that her quick retort to Marina would end up dragging Alfven
into trouble.
“Susy, this has nothing to do with Manager Alfven,” Niamh protested.
“He’s your supervisor. If you’re rude to guests, how is that not his problem?”
“Then I’ll quit-”
“You think my hotel’s a grocery store? You can come and go as you please?” Susy’s eyes were wide and fierce,/her stare practically boring holes through Niamh.
And truthfully, Susy really did wish she could tear Niamh apart.
As the golden girl of her family, she’d never suffered such humiliation in her life–and all thanks to Niamh.
The Neville family had already apologized and offered money, even thrown

business deals their way, but so what?
The whole world now knew: Susy Fraser’s wedding was called off. The groom ran
away.
Not only did he ditch her at the altar, he ran off with another woman.
Now she was the laughingstock of the entire social scene–the juicy gossip everyone whispered about over dinner and drinks.
