Chapter 23
Liliana’s tone was hardly pleasant. “Monica, do you really have to speak so harshly? Yes, Anna made mistakes, but are you saying Brandon didn’t do anything wrong?”
Monica scoffed. “Of course, Brandon’s no better. So, isn’t it perfect to just let the two of them end up together? Either they quietly register their marriage, or they can forget about being together at all!”
She remained absolutely firm.
A glimmer flashed in Anna’s eyes. Liliana and Phillip might be willing to marry her off to Brandon, but she certainly wasn’t.
However, Liliana gritted her teeth and agreed before Anna could even speak.
“Fine. No wedding, then.”
Monica sneered, “You’ve achieved what you came here for. Now, get out of my sight. I don’t want to see your whole family right now.”
Phillip had never suffered such humiliation. He let out a cold snort and left with Anna and
Liliana.
Once they were gone, Brandon finally spoke up. “Mom, this has nothing to do with Anna. It’s not her fault. You shouldn’t treat her like that.”
Monica replied sarcastically, “You’re the only idiot who’d still believe her. Do you really think she’s desperate to marry you? I’ve already had people look into what she was doing all those years abroad. Most of the powerful men she was hooking up with were already married!
“She’s been to the hospital for hymen repairs more times than you’ve ever been to the doctor in your life! I’ve been smart all my life. How did I end up giving birth to such a fool as you? Since you like her so much, I’ll let you have her. Neither of you are any good. You two deserve
each other.”
With that, Monica turned and left the ward.
Brandon sat there, stunned. His mind was buzzing.
He ripped open the brown envelope he had been handed. Each photo inside made his eyes
widen in disbelief.
Anna had always played the sweet, delicate girl in front of him. Occasionally, she’d get bolder in intimate moments. He had once thought she was only learning those things for his sake.
Now, staring at these photos, he finally realized just what an experienced player she was.
Brandon clutched the photos tightly, his eyes blazing with hatred. “Anna Hickman, how dare you lie to me? I gave up Jessie for someone like you! I’ll never forgive you!
Over the next few days, Jessie was busy preparing for the wedding.
Zane was determined to throw her the wedding of the century, spending over a billion dollars.
Jessie had initially refused. She thought the whole spectacle felt too grand.
However, even Eileen had taken Zane’s side. “A wedding like this only happens once in a
woman’s lifetime. You shouldn’t have to settle for anything less. Besides, Zane has loved for so many years. He’ll be disappointed if you don’t let him go all out.”
In the end, Jessie agreed.

Since she had severed ties with the Hickman family, there was no one left to walk her down the aisle. This troubled Jessie for several days. One day, while Alisha was helping her try on wedding dresses, Liliana suddenly called, pleading for help.
Jessie had initially wanted nothing more to do with the Hickmans. But in the end, she couldn’t ignore the woman who had given birth to her.
“Alisha, I have to go back to the Hickman residence. I’ll skip trying on dresses today.”
Alisha grabbed her arm. “Jessie, after everything they’ve done to you, you don’t owe them anything. Even if they’re in trouble, it’s not your responsibility to help them.”
Jessie let out a bitter laugh. “She gave me life. I’ll just think of it as repaying that debt this
time.”
Alisha frowned. “Then I’m going with you. I don’t feel safe letting you go alone.”
“Alright.”
The two of them quickly changed their clothes and had the bodyguards drive them over to the Hickman residence.
