Chapter 16
In Ashire General Hospital, Isabella paced anxiously.
Aurora had the Rh-negative blood trait. When Aurora had once said she wanted to terminate the pregnancy, Isabella had advised her to prepare blood supplies first, just in case.
Not much time had passed since then, and the hospital’s blood stock hadn’t been replenished yet.
If blood was needed…
Isabella and Aurora had known each other since childhood.
They had been close friends even as kids.
Isabella was born into a family of medical professionals and had been exposed to pharmacology knowledge from an early
age.
But most of what she knew was from books or her parents’ talks; she didn’t deeply understand it until later.
One time, she and Aurora sneaked out to play.
Isabella loved excitement and had secretly ridden her older brother’s big motorcycle, with Aurora-this beauty-riding
along.
Riding that big motorcycle with Aurora beside her, she felt incredibly cool.
The faster she went, the more reckless she became.
Then she crashed.
Isabella was okay, just a few scrapes.
But Aurora was thrown far and hit a rock, cutting a large gash in her leg.
The wound was massive.
Blood poured everywhere.
Isabella panicked and immediately called an ambulance to take Aurora to the hospital.
But because the injury was severe and they had been out in the countryside, even the ambulance took time to arrive.
By the time they reached the hospital, Aurora had lost too much blood.
That was the first time Isabella understood what Aurora’s Rh-negative trait really meant.
The small hospital had no Rh-negative blood in stock.
Watching Aurora lose so much blood and go into shock, Isabella cried and called her father to save Aurora.
Thankfully, Aurora survived, a moment Isabella would never forget.

Aurora still had a scar on her leg from that injury.
Though she had undergone medical cosmetic treatments, the wound was too deep, and the scar had never fully disappeared.
Aurora didn’t want Isabella to feel guilty, so she took her to a tattoo shop, and they got matching “sister” tattoos over their
scars.
“Aura…”
Thinking of this, Isabella made phone calls to all her contacts again.
“Yes, this is Isabella…”
“Yes, I have a pregnant car accident patient who may urgently need blood!”
“Hello, is this the blood donor association?”
“Okay, please send as many donors as possible. Even though we don’t need it yet, it’s better to be prepared.”
“Thank you…”
After several calls and confirming that help was mobilizing, Isabella finally relaxed slightly.
She still didn’t know Aurora’s condition, which made her anxious.
To ease her nerves, Isabella asked the officer for a rundown of what had happened.
As she learned the details, cold sweat broke out over her.
“Are you saying someone tried to kill Aura?”
But who?
Isabella’s mind raced.
Could it be an old feud with the Sinclair family?
Or because Aurora was Ethan’s wife and linked to Steele Group, was she being targeted?
Maybe the online countdown to Lilian’s death had incited extremists to attack Aurora.
She had seen similar situations before.
There were also work disputes and daily conflicts-too many possibilities.
The range was too wide.
Inside the emergency room, Aurora was barely conscious.
She could only faintly sense her surroundings.

She felt someone examining her.
Around her, medical instruments clinked and beeped, making various noises.
People were talking, but the words were broken and indistinct.
She could barely catch words like “bleeding” and “pregnant woman.”
Her child…
Her baby.
Aurora remembered.
Summoning all her strength, she barely whispered, “Doctor… please save my baby.”
She regretted everything.
Before fainting at the police station, the panic and sorrow had almost crushed her.
She had once wanted the child because she wanted a symbol of their love with Ethan.
Later, she gave up on Ethan and gave up the baby too.
But over these days, she had felt the child growing inside her.
Gradually, doubts crept in.
Until this moment, when she was truly about to lose it, she realized…
How much she didn’t want to let go, how deeply she was hurting.
This child was connected to her by blood.
Just like the Rh-negative trait her father passed down to her.
It was blood connection.
This was her child.
Not Ethan’s.
This child belonged to her alone.
She had to keep it!
Ethan drove fast.
In the passenger seat, Lilian gripped her seatbelt tightly.
She dared not speak much.

She believed her performance earlier was enough.
But Ethan…
Lilian stole a glance at his profile.
He seemed no different than usual, but the tight line of his lips and the whitened knuckles on the steering wheel betrayed
his emotions.
Ethan still cared about that wretched Aurora!
Lilian withdrew her gaze and closed her eyes, pretending to be weak, but her mind raced.
The car quickly arrived at Ashire General Hospital.
Ethan opened the door and stepped out.
Lilian hurried after him but vomited blood again as she got out.
“I’m fine.” Lilian wiped the corner of her mouth weakly. “I was already dying anyway. Ethan, you go see Aurora first.”
Ethan frowned deeply, his eyes full of concern.
But Lilian pushed him toward the hospital as if she didn’t care about her own condition.
Ethan pressed his lips tightly and finally said, “I’ll check on her. Take care of yourself.”
“Okay.” Lilian nodded.
Then she watched Ethan rush toward the hospital.
Lilian immediately took out her phone and carefully examined the information on it.
Ethan strode quickly to the hospital.
His steps grew longer and faster until he broke into a run.
Even he didn’t realize how terrified he was.
He found the inquiry desk, got Aurora’s room number, and headed there-only to be stopped by Isabella guarding the door.
Ethan’s brow tightened into a hard line.
“What’s her condition?” Ethan asked.
But Isabella didn’t answer immediately.
She watched him warily from head to toe.
“What’s going on?” Ethan asked patiently, suppressing his impatience.
Isabella remembered what the police officer had told her and wondered if Ethan, desperate to marry Lilian and afraid
Aurora wouldn’t agree to divorce, had tried to kill Aurora.

Especially since Ethan had ignored the many calls made from Aurora’s phone.
But Isabella didn’t know how to ask directly.
Seeing Ethan grow impatient, she cautiously said, “Ethan, do you have to marry Lilian? You can’t wait even a day?”
Ethan glanced at her. “What do you mean?”
Isabella hesitated, unable to answer.
As Ethan’s impatience peaked, he snapped, “Step aside!”
