Chapter 21

He still remembered that day.

Kneeling on one knee, his head resting on her shoulder, usually composed, he had broken down in tears, silently soaking

her clothes.

Aurora gently stroked his hair and softly patted his back, soothing his fragile heart.

That day, she had said,

“Ethan, don’t be afraid.”

“Grandpa said, didn’t he? Once you settle down and start a family, he can rest easy and his health will improve. I’ll go back

with you.”

“Even if it’s just Grandpa… Ethan, you still have me.”

The scent on her still lingered by his nose-the only memory from that sad time.

“Ethan…”

Her voice called his name again and again in his ears-happy, sad, gentle, shy…

The last time had been just now, her soft call in the emergency passage.

His brow furrowed sharply, and suddenly he felt afraid.

“Ethan.”

Lilian’s voice came again as she squeezed his hand.

“Are you okay?”

Ethan looked up and saw Lilian’s pale and weak face.

He regained his senses, turned away, and closed his eyes.

“I’m fine.”

He said, pulling his hand away from Lilian’s and started the car.

“Isabella is at the hospital. She’ll take care of Aurora.”

Ethan calmly watched the road ahead as he expertly drove the Aston Martin out of the parking lot onto the highway.

“I’ll take you home.”

Lilian smiled faintly.

“All right.”

At the hospital, people rushed in and out of the emergency room.

Isabella stood anxiously outside.

She was a gynecologist who had performed surgeries before, but right now, her emotions were too unstable-she didn’t dare step in herself.

Fortunately, she had arranged for a blood supply in advance.

But as for Aurora’s current condition… she had no idea.

With that much blood loss, could the baby still be saved?

Her mind was in complete turmoil. She didn’t trust her own judgment and could only wait for the final outcome.

Footsteps approached. Isabella looked up and saw her brother, Lucian Carter.

“Lucian!”

She threw herself into his arms, her barely-contained emotions breaking down all over again.

“Lucian, I’ve hurt Aura…” she sobbed in his embrace. “What should I do…”

Lucian sighed softly, patting his sister’s back. “I already got an update on the situation on my way here. Don’t panic-I’ll go

in and take a look first.”

“Isabella, if you don’t trust anyone else, can’t you at least trust your brother?”

The Caeter family had a long lineage in medicine. As the eldest son, Lucian was renowned for his medical skill.

Though he wasn’t an OB-GYN specialist, he was well-versed in many disciplines.

“Go.” Isabella quickly straightened up and wiped her tears. “Go, Lucian, hurry!”

Lucian smiled, reached out to wipe away his sister’s tears, then changed into surgical attire, disinfected, and entered the

emergency room.

Not long after he stepped inside, a sharp alarm suddenly blared from one of the monitors.

“Patient’s heart rate is plummeting! Get the defibrillator-now!”

“Go check if any family members are outside-we need someone to sign the critical condition notice.”

The emergency room fell into chaos.

Meanwhile, an Aston Martin pulled up outside Lilian’s residence.

Inside the car, Lilian silently observed Ethan’s profile.

Ethan was always a master at concealing emotion-his expression rarely betrayed joy or anger.

On the battlefield of business, countless rivals had assembled top-tier teams just to decipher his thinking-and all had failed.

Back when Steele Group was undergoing its critical transformation, it was Ethan who had led every major decision and fight.

He had driven the company’s shift from a traditional industry into a rising tech giant. And eventually, he secured their

place at the top.

Ethan’s capabilities had never been just empty talk.
