Chapter 38
Cassandra abruptly pulled her feet back and shoved them into her high heels.
Cameron’s hand froze in midair. “Didn’t you say your feet hurt?”
Sher replied, “You guys carry on drinking. I’m going to the restroom.
With that, she stood up to leave. Cameron reflexively stood up as well. “I’ll go with you.”
Ryan grabbed his arm. “Come on, you’re a CEO, not a piece of gum under her shoe. You dragged me out of my warm bed, and now, you want to leave me here alone? Seriously?”
Cameron hesitated. “You don’t get it. She’s been trying to divorce me. And she’s tricky as hell.
Today, she almost ran off right under
my nose.‘
Ryan didn’t say anything. Instead, he just chuckled and sipped his drink as if he wasn’t already aware. Not only was he aware, but he knew better than Cameron what had really gone down.
Cassandra retorted, “Relax. Daisy is still in your hands. I wouldn’t dare to run.”
She walked away, heels clicking, and asked a waiter for directions before she headed to the
restroom.
Watching her back as she left, Cameron gritted his teeth and angrily downed half a bottle of wine in one go. However, his phone wouldn’t stop ringing. Annoyed, Cameron just declined
the calls.
Ryan shot him a sideways glance. “You’re not even picking up your mom’s calls?”

Cameron frowned. “She’s being annoying.”

“You knocked up someone else’s daughter, and you’re annoyed?” Ryan’s tone was laced with

But Cameron was so preoccupied that he didn’t even catch it. Instead, he just kept muttering, I don’t get it. I didn’t even really go all the way, so hów is she pregnant?”
“I once heard about a woman getting pregnant from swimming in a pool. It’s super rare, but hey, it happens.”
“Why did that one–in–a–million chance have to hit me? Fuck!” Cameron got more and more frustrated. He finished the rest of the bottle in one long gulp.
Ryan snickered. “Who can you blame? It’s not her fault your boys are some top–shelf swimmers.”
Cameron glanced at him. “Are you jealous?”
“Why should I…” Ryan started to argue, but the words caught in his throat. He let out a bitter

laugh. “Actually, yeah. I’ve been jealous.”
He had been jealous for over ten years.
He was jealous to the point that it drove him insane.
At the sink, Cassandra grabbed a tissue and wiped the water off her hands. Her feet were killing her. It felt like her toes had been rubbed raw. There was a sharp, biting pain.
Just as expected, cheap shoes only looked good until they were
worn.
She forced herself to walk out, only to be suddenly stopped.
“Hey.” Ryan was leaning against the wall outside the restroom with one casual. He even looked a little tipsy.

Cassandra jumped. “Damn it, I thought it was Cameron coming to drag me back again.‘
”
Ryan quipped, “He can’t. Annabelle started showing signs of a miscarriage. His mom urged him to go back.”
Cassandra couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief when she heard that. That was good news. Cameron was completely insane now. He was even using Daisy to threaten her.
“Are you still planning to get divorced?” Ryan asked.
Cassandra rolled her eyes. “Obviously.”
“But earlier, you didn’t pull away when Cameron was massaging your feet. It felt nice, didn’t
it?”
She looked at him like he was insane. “Next time, why don’t you take your shoes off, stick feet on his lap, and see for yourself?”

Ryan straightened up and slowly walked over. “Why did you suddenly leave my place today?”
“Because…”
“Because Cameron came, and you just couldn’t wait to run to him?”
Cassandra suddenly felt like the whole world had gone insane. Why did it feel like both of these men were trying to catch her cheating?
“Attorney Scott, calm down. I want a divorce, and I mean it.”
