Chapter 99
I didn’t know why he would suddenly bring up Adrian, but I didn’t want to discuss this matter with him.
While eating, I asked: “About my friend’s situation…”
“Already had her released.” Ferris paused, then said coldly, “Tell your friend not to post random things in the future.”
My hand holding the spoon tightened.
After all that talk, he was still protecting Ashley.
I looked up, my tone calm but firm: “My friend wasn’t making baseless accusations. Ashley’s so–called ‘new drug‘ not only plagiarized our formula but also hasn’t undergone complete clinical testing. Once it hits the market, thousands of patients will suffer.”
Ferris smiled disdainfully: “Your friend works in media, right? Then she should know better what should and shouldn’t be written.”
The mocking smile on his face stung my nerves.
Ferris didn’t notice my reaction and continued: “Besides, with her level, fighting a lawsuit against my legal department, the probability of losing is one hundred
›ercent.”
Jang!
couldn’t listen anymore and slammed down my bowl.
I’m full.”
got up to leave.
Only then did Ferris realize I was angry. He couldn’t help but get up and chase after me, grabbing my wrist.
Why are you angry?”
shook him off: “I’m not angry. You’re right about everything. My friend and I were too naive to think exposing the truth would have any result.”
She just wrote an article exposing drug problems and was sent to the police station for a day.”
laughed coldly, my gaze sharp: “You’re the Alpha of Silver Moon Pack. Don’t you know what kind of disaster inferior drugs flowing into the market would
ause?”
erris was slightly stunned and didn’t refute, instead softening his voice: “I really didn’t know the ‘rumor–monger‘ Ashley mentioned was your friend.”
stopped talking and just looked at him quietly.
erris seemed suppressed by my silence for the first time, saying in a low voice: “Then tell me, what should I do to compensate her?”
Should I have Ashley apologize to her?”
looked at him with some surprise.
That was the person he protected most–would he really be willing?
ust as I hadn’t had time to answer, there was a light cough from the doorway.
We both looked over to see Miles standing at the entrance with a complex expression, having obviously heard quite a bit.
Ferris’s face immediately darkened.
I took the opportunity to shake off his hand and left the villa without looking back.
Shortly after arriving home, Cynthia sent a message saying she had been released from the police station.
Only then did I breathe a sigh of relief.
But before I could settle down to sleep, my phone rang again. It was Evan calling, saying Liz wanted to go camping this week.
I paused: “The overnight kind?”
“Yes.” Evan said: “Don’t worry, I’ll have people protect your safety. I’ll prepare sleeping bags, tents, heaters–you just need to come.”
I hesitated because I’d been too busy recently, gathering evidence of Ashley’s plagiarism everywhere and trying to find ways to prevent that batch of drugs from entering the market. I really didn’t have time to go camping.
Evan noticed my hesitation and asked: “What’s wrong? Don’t have time?”
1 fell into thought.
Ferris would most likely not interfere in Ashley’s affairs–this wasn’t the first time he’d turned a blind eye to her various outrageous actions. But what about Evan? Would he intervene?
Strictly speaking, Evan didn’t belong to Silver Moon Pack. His background was mysterious, with businesses throughout the country, and his whereabouts were elusive. No one really knew where he was or what he was doing.
But one thing was undeniable–he was indeed very powerful.
It’s just… he used to dislike me. Cold, distant, even once filled with hostility toward me.
Now, would he be willing to help me?
