Chapter 56
Simon stared at Ryan in shock.
Ryan still looked as laid–back as ever, smiling. “Mr. Dorsey, hitting a woman doesn’t really make you look good, does it?”
Simon could only watch as a lifetime’s worth of paintings went up in flames. He completely lost it. “Ryan, get out of my way! She’s lost her mind! I said from the start that she should’ve never set foot in my house! She’s a curse!”
He tried to free his arm, but Ryan had a firm grip.
Given the age and strength difference, there was no way Simon could break loose.
Simon growled, “You and Cameron are close friends. You should be helping me restrain this crazy woman! What are you doing?”
Ryan just smiled. “Crazy woman? Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey, aren’t you both perfectly clear on what pushed her over the edge tonight?”
Grace’s expression changed. “Clear about what? We were just sleeping at home when she burst in and set our study on fire. She’s out of her mind! I’m calling the police!”
Just then, Cassandra spotted Grace and suddenly remembered something.
“I almost forgot about you.” Cassandra sneered. “What’s your most treasured thing? Oh, right! Your orchid.”
With that, she dashed up to the conservatory on the second floor.
Grace’s face turned pale. “What are you doing? Stop!”
The more Grace shouted, the quicker Cassandra ran. Within seconds, she reached the second floor, grabbed the orchid, and raised it.
Grace clutched her chest in pain. “Don’t! Please don’t…”
“Don’t what?”
“My orchid, please! Not my orchid!”

The orchid fell from the second floor, smashing straight onto the floor below.
The pot shattered, soil scattering everywhere, and the whole plant spilled out.
“Ah!” Grace let out a heart–wrenching scream and stumbled toward the fallen orchid.
But Cassandra was even quicker. She darted down the stairs and snatched up the orchid before Grace could reach it.
Then, right in front of her, Cassandra tore off all three flowers–the ones that had finally bloomed after five years–and tossed them on the ground, grinding them under her heel.
Grace lunged, trying to grab them back.
But Cassandra sidestepped, and Grace crashed into the shelving unit, sending fine ornaments and porcelain crashing everywhere.
Grace scrambled to her feet and grabbed Cassandra’s sleeve, clawing wildly at her face.
Cassandra flung her off with all her strength, sending Grace sprawling to the floor.
“Grace!” Simon shouted, rushing to help Grace, but Ryan stopped him, holding him firmly in place.
Simon stared at Ryan in disbelief. “You’re in this with her? Did Cameron send you? Did he really choose a woman over his parents?”
“I brought her here. Cameron has nothing to do with it.”
“Then why…”
“Mr. Dorsey, instead of asking who brought her here, maybe you should be explaining what happened to Snowball.”
At the mention of Snowball, Simon turned away, avoiding the question.
“It was just a dog. What’s that got to do with me?“”
“Nothing? You didn’t seem the least bit surprised by Snowball’s death. Almost like you knew it was going to happen, right?”
