Chapter 13
It didn’t take long for Susan to find out that Yasmin had gone missing.
She couldn’t reach Yasmin, so she instructed her subordinate to send her to Fuller Group to look for
Zachary.
The moment she got into the car, however, she was drugged by Andy and soon fell unconscious.
When she woke up next, she found herself on the edge of a cliff with no one else around.
Her hands and legs had been tied up. If she were to take so much as another step, she would surely fall
into the eternal darkness.
“Andy, what are you doing?” Susan’s face turned as pale as a sheet.
Appearing from somewhere behind her, Andy spoke coldly. “Mr. Fuller found out about everything you and Ms. Lloyd did. He also knows that you suggested Yasmin put on a show by throwing herself off the cliff.”
Susan widened her eyes in shock. “Andy, you work for me. How could you help Zachary out?”
Andy laughed bitterly. “You’re right. I’ve worked so hard for you this last decade, but what have you given me in return after all these years?”
Susan was tongue-tied.
“Back when my mom was severely ill, you did nothing but threaten me with her medical fees. Now that my son’s fallen sick, the first thing you did was to take advantage of the situation and tell me to do those filthy things for you.”
Andy’s gaze grew colder. “And now, I no longer have to suffer all this in silence!”
“A-Andy, you can’t do-”
Before Susan could finish speaking, she was shoved off the cliff. She struck the rocky wall on the way down, making her gasp in pain. She then hit the ground with a thud.
As the pain eased slightly, she looked up at Andy and spat furiously, “Just you wait. I’ll have Charles rip you to shreds later!”
Andy scoffed in response. “Mr. Lloyd is in a difficult situation himself. I bet he doesn’t even have the time to deal with your crap.”
Elsewhere, Charles sat in the Fuller Group meeting room with a grim look on his face.
He had no idea what had gone wrong with Zachary, but the latter halted all ongoing projects with Lloyd Group overnight. As such, Lloyd Group was now facing a serious financial crisis.
Charles had come looking for Zachary, but Kevin turned him away at the door, saying that Zachary was busy.
“What could he possibly be dealing with? How could it be more important than meeting his father-in-law?”
As soon as Charles said that, the meeting room door swung open, and Zachary strode in indifferently.
He shot Charles a cold look and said, “Mr. Lloyd, are you here regarding your cash flow?”
Seeing how unbothered Zachary was after he had caused all these issues, Charles flew into a fit of rage.
“Zachary, I don’t know what the hell is wrong with you, but if you still want to be with Yasmin, you’d better rescind your orders!”
Zachary casually took a seat, his tone nonchalant as he said, “I can rescind my orders.”
He wore a calm expression as he pushed a document toward Charles. “This is a share transfer agreement. As long as you sign it, I’ll stop going after Lloyd Group.”
Charles looked at the document and was surprised to find Melanie’s name as the transferee.
Frowning, he asked, “What is this supposed to mean?”
“As you can see, I want you to transfer the Lloyd Group shares to Melanie.” Zachary leaned against the chair, looking perfectly unbothered.
“Zachary, are you insane? Your wife is Yasmin! Even if you want the shares, you should transfer them to
Yasmin. What right does Melanie have?”
Zachary’s gaze grew colder when he heard what Charles said about Melanie. “Yasmin is your daughter,
sure. Is Melanie not your daughter, then?”
Charles fell silent at that.
Suddenly, Zachary straightened his back and stared intently at Charles.
“At first, I thought you didn’t know about what Yasmin did with her mom. When you suggested that
Melanie never come back, I finally realized that you were aware all along.
“You turned a blind eye to Susan’s doings, allowing her to act in cahoots with Yasmin and lie to me about
Yasmin’s terminal illness. Then, they attacked Melanie in secret.
“Mr. Lloyd, you and Susan have put on an impressive act!”
Charles’ expression grew darker. He finally understood why Zachary had suddenly stopped all ongoing collaborations and demanded that he give his shares to Melanie.
It turned out that Zachary had already discovered the truth. He knew they had deceived him.
“How did you… find out about that?”
Zachary sneered, a cold glint flickering in his eyes.
“Melanie was pregnant. She once said that she wanted the best for her baby because she grew up in a broken family herself.” Zachary’s voice was deep.
“She had to stay calm during her pregnancy, so why would someone with her ideals try to harm Yasmin?”
Charles explained through gritted teeth, “Yeah. Yasmin’s illness was a lie, but those things Melanie did to-
Zachary cut him off. “Mr. Lloyd, I wouldn’t have targeted Lloyd Group if I hadn’t gathered sufficient proof. I have the recording of the mother and daughter pair plotting everything. Would you like to listen to it?”
Charles’ eyes contracted. It felt as though someone was clutching his throat, and he was forced to
swallow his words.
He took a deep breath and asked, “What will you do if I refuse to sign it?”
Zachary replied without hesitation, “I’ll make sure Lloyd Group vanishes from the face of the earth in three
months.”
