Chapter 13
After the visit, I returned to the hotel.
The same security guard from before spotted me and quickly walked over.
“Miss! That friend of yours is here again.”
Friend?
I followed his gaze in confusion, and once again saw Noah’s car.
This time, I frowned even more deeply than I had the previous two days.
The guard sighed. “He’s been coming here every day, doesn’t say a word, just waits there.”
He’d asked Noah about it once before, and Noah had shown him an old photo of us together, explaining that he meant no
harm.
The guard had kept an eye on him for two days and confirmed that he hadn’t done anything suspicious.
Noah didn’t approach me or ask questions. He simply came every night and waited, rain or shine.
By day, he probably went back to campus to work on his research.
“Did you two have a fight?” the guard asked tactfully.
I shook my head. “I barely know him.”
“But he’s been out there for days… and honestly, he doesn’t look well today.”
The guard hesitated, then added, “We’ve had a heatwave. I’m worried something might happen to him. Should I call the
police?”
I was about to nod when a car pulled up and someone rushed out.
It was her Elise.
She ran straight toward Noah’s vehicle, pulled open the door, and spoke to him–though I couldn’t hear what was said.
Then Elise looked over at me. Her expression was full of indignation and frustration.
I looked away.
“No need,” I said quietly to the guard. “Someone’s come to take him.”
