Chapter 22
The moment Elise Simmons saw the posts, her face went pale.
Word was, she even contacted our old teacher to confirm.
The girl she had once dismissed and looked down on–had actually been quietly shining in another field all this time.
Once she confirmed the news, she went silent for a few days.
Vera told me that Elise used to be pretty active on social media. She often posted photos of awards she and Noah had
won.
“Hey, didn’t she once imply you didn’t get into college?” Vera asked.
By then, my exhibition had already been open for two days.
She had just learned about it from our old teacher and rushed to send me a congratulatory bouquet before the opening.
“I don’t know. I forgot,” I replied with a shake of my head.
Vera didn’t press me on the answer. She was more focused on something else.
“Mint… has Noah tried to see you?”
I didn’t have time to respond.
Because, as if summoned–Noah appeared.
I spotted him right outside the exhibition hall.
Compared to our first encounter since I came back, he looked even thinner and paler now,
standing frozen in front of my exhibition poster like a statue weathered by time.
He had been there so long that the staff started noticing.
“Why doesn’t he come in?” Vera asked, puzzled.
I replied calmly,
“Maybe he doesn’t like my paintings.”
A long time ago, Noah had already stopped caring about my art.
He had no idea which of my pieces had improved, which ones had won awards.
He didn’t know that back then, I had worked so hard, just to get into the same university as him.
