Chapter 518 You’re Carrying Our Child
After hanging up the call, Maddox found himself wide awake. He stepped out onto the balcony and lit a cigarette.
He had no idea why Victor had suddenly taken such a deep interest in Susic, but one thing was clear- there was something going on he wasn’t being told.
He took out his phone, pulled up Jonathan’s number, and hovered for a long moment. But in the end, he didn’t make the call.
Right now, even if he did reach out, Jonathan wouldn’t believe him. Worse, he might think it was a trap Victor had set, and that Maddox was helping him lay it.
So, the call never went through.
But Maddox’s silence didn’t mean Jonathan was unaware.
Victor’s actions were too loud–too obvious. Jonathan’s side caught wind almost immediately.
The moment Jonathan learned Victor had met with Susie, he began making preparations. What he hadn’t expected was how fast Victor would react.
Though he’d hoped to avoid involving Chase and Susie again, Jonathan still made the call and had them
come over.
He gave them one final warning. “Victor is suspicious. If you want to leave, now’s the time.”
Susie tensed. Chase turned to her, eyes full of concern.
But in the end, Susie shook her head firmly. “No. I’m not leaving. You’re all still here. As long as that’s true, I’m not afraid.”
Jonathan didn’t try to change her mind. Seeing they’d made their decision, he simply reminded them, “Keep a close eye on Jose.”
Jose had a reckless streak, and Jonathan feared he might be manipulated.
“Don’t worry. He understands what’s at stake. He hasn’t been out much lately,” Chase replied.
With the important matters handled, there wasn’t much else to say.
Despite being family, they were also like strangers.
“.
Chase and Susie knew full well–everything that had happened today, they’d brought on themselves. They didn’t expect Jonathan’s forgiveness. After saying their goodbyes, they turned to leave.
Just then, the butler rushed upstairs.
“Master, Madam just fainted.”
Jonathan’s face changed instantly, and he bolted downstairs.

The doctor was already examining Sierra as Jonathan arrived, lips pressed tight in worry.
Chase and Susie didn’t leave right away, staying in case something went wrong.
Thankfully, the doctor finished the exam quickly.

“From the blood test results, it seems Madam fainted due to low blood sugar.”
Jonathan immediately understood–Sierra hadn’t been eating properly again. He was about to say something when the doctor continued, “Also… it appears Madam is pregnant.”
Sierra stirred awake to find Jonathan watching her intently.
She tried to sit up, but he reached out first and gently helped her up.
She avoided his gaze, knowing full well why she had fainted today.
She’d been researching something these past few days, and her meals had been irregular. Though meals were brought to her, she hadn’t actually eaten them. Afraid Jonathan would find out, she’d secretly dumped them in the trash.
Before Jonathan could speak, she confessed quickly,
“I was wrong. I shouldn’t have skipped meals.”
Jonathan felt a surge of frustration and helplessness.
He’d thought she’d be safe doing her experiments at home. Meals were supervised. Her routine was supposed to be steady.
But she’d gone and pulled this.
If it weren’t for her current physical condition, he would’ve given her a proper scolding.
When he stayed quiet, Sierra assumed he was furious. She rushed to reassure him, “Really, I mean it–I won’t do it again, I swear.”
What she didn’t say was that she hadn’t had much appetite lately anyway. So she figured, why bother eating?
She didn’t dare say that aloud. Jonathan would’ve been even more furious. With all the doctors around, she hadn’t even told anyone she was feeling off.
But in her mind, it hadn’t seemed serious. Just a little nausea, some fatigue–normal stuff.
Seeing that Sierra truly had no idea she was pregnant, Jonathan sighed and asked, “Have you felt anything strange lately? Any discomfort?”
Sierra shook her head. Other than having no appetite, she felt fine,
Jonathan let out a slow breath and gently placed his palm over her stomach.
“Sierra, you’re pregnant. You’re carrying our baby.”

“What?” Sierra jolted upright in shock, which made her dizzy again.
“Easy!” Jonathan caught her, guiding her gently to lean against him.
She instinctively placed her hand over his, eyes wide with disbelief.
“I’m really… pregnant?”
“Yes. You fainted just now, so the doctor ran tests. The blood work raised some flags, so they did an ultrasound. You’re definitely pregnant.”
Sierra did a mental count–and sure enough, her period hadn’t come this month.
