Chapter 1
At our Christmas Eve party, a strange woman suddenly showed up and naturally took the seat right next to my husband.
By the fourth time she leaned against my husband’s arm, I finally couldn’t hold back and threw up all over the floor.
While my husband anxiously helped me recover, the mystery woman arched her eyebrow and folded her arms across her chest.
“Ryder,” she smirked, “your little wifey can’t even hold her liquor, huh?”
Oh, so it was the whole conniving bitch act.
But what she didn’t realize–When it comes to playing dirty, I’m the fucking empress who taught all these wannabes~
An awkward silence descended over the room.
Ryder frowned. “Maddox, stop talking nonsense,” he said while gently patting my back to help ease my discomfort.
Maddox lowered her voice to a theatrical whisper: “Remember when we drank all night and woke up in the same bed? I didn’t even throw up then.”
Someone quickly jumped in to smooth things over: “That’s ancient history, Maddox has no filter. Don’t take it to heart! Phoenix.”
Maddox froze, about to say something else, when someone quickly covered her mouth.
After prying the hand away, she pouted dramatically. “I’m just telling the truth–women always cause problems.”
The nausea suddenly rushed back, making me choke up with tears.
When I looked up, my eyes were red. “Ryder, I’m sorry if I’m ruining your fun…”
Ryder’s eyes filled with concern. “Babe, if you’re not feeling well, let’s head home.”
When he finished, I caught Maddox’s expression changing instantly in my peripheral vision.

Chapter 1.
As I expected, she immediately grabbed the hem of Ryder’s Jacket. “Come on! I just got back to the States and you’re leaving? So you ditch your bros the minute you get a wife?!”
Ryder’s face darkened. “Maddox, my wife is sick.”
She tilted her head, peering past Ryder at me: “Honey, are you just jealous of our close relationship?”
I just collapsed weakly into Ryder’s arms and said in a fragile voice: “I feel terrible. If you absolutely must keep Ryder here, could you at least let me leave?”
Ryder’s brow furrowed, then he supported my waist. “I’m taking you home first.”
As Ryder guided me toward the exit, he called back, “Keep drinking, guys. My wife isn’t feeling well. I’ll
treat next time.”
But the woman behind us wasn’t pleased.
“So having a spouse means you have zero freedom now? Way to kill the vibe, Ryder!”
Ryder didn’t even pause.
He helped me into the car and arranged for a driver in one smooth motion.
In the car, he rubbed my back soothingly.
“Phoenix, are you still feeling sick? Should we go to the hospital instead?”
The fresh air had already helped calm my nausea.
So, I created some distance between us.
“When exactly did you and Maddox end up in bed together?”
Ryder froze.
He awkwardly avoided my eyes and murmured. “That happened before I even met you. I didn’t know she’d come tonight…”
With that, he reached for my hand, his tone pleading: “Besides, we were both completely wasted, and nothing happened between us. I swear to God!”
The driver knocked on the window at that moment.
Ryder pulled my hand to his chest, looking deeply concerned.
“Please drive carefully,” he told the driver. “My wife isn’t feeling well.”
