Chapter 4
Ethan knelt by the bed, his lips pale, seemingly terrified. “Did I do something wrong? You can hit me or scold me, but please don’t leave me, okay?”
Seeing the dense hickeys under his collar, Sophia wanted to ask if he really didn’t know what he had done wrong.
But in the end, she swallowed those words.
She made up an excuse. “I took it off to wash my hands yesterday and accidentally mixed it in with the trash.”
Hearing this, Ethan sighed in relief and tightly gripped her fingers. “Don’t scare me like that again. My heart nearly
stopped…”
Perhaps noticing her bad mood, after completing the discharge procedures, Ethan said he wanted to take her to an
auction to cheer her up.
Upon arrival, he immediately covered her legs with a small blanket and brought her favorite pastries. Throughout the
auction, he bid without hesitation on any jewelry or antique that caught her eye.
The surrounding guests couldn’t help but comment.
“Mr. Miller really spoils his wife!”
“Seeing is believing. To make his wife happy, he spent tens of millions without blinking. He truly lives up to his reputation
as a wife-spoiling maniac.”
“Mrs. Miller is so lucky to marry Mr. Miller…”
But there wasn’t a trace of a smile on Sophia’s face.
Then, a jade bracelet on stage suddenly caught her attention-her mother’s relic that she had painfully pawned years ago
to buy a good burial plot. She never expected to encounter it again here.
Without hesitation, she raised her bidding paddle.
Since everyone knew the Miller family’s wealth, no one planned to compete with Sophia.
But unexpectedly, a hand suddenly rose from a corner.
Isabella spoke timidly, “Sis, I really like this bracelet. Could you let me have it?”
Sophia didn’t even glance at her. Just as she was about to continue bidding, Ethan suddenly pressed down her hand.
“Baby, this bracelet isn’t of good quality. Why don’t you let her have it…”
Sophia turned around in disbelief.
This was the first time she had heard the words “let her have it” from Ethan’s mouth.
She still clearly remembered when he helped her reclaim her shares, he had held her and promised, “Sophia, with me here,
no one can force you to give up what’s yours!”

But now, he wanted her to give the bracelet to Isabella-the same Isabella who had scattered her mother’s ashes and
bullied her for ten years!
“I won’t Sophia shook off Ethan’s hand. “I can give up everything else, but I want this jade bracelet!”
She didn’t give others a chance to bid and directly signaled the staff to accept her final offer.
Isabella’s eyes immediately reddened. “Today is my birthday. I just wanted a bracelet. Why do you still have to compete
with me?”
With that, she covered her face and ran out.
Ethan instinctively stood up to chase after her, but stopped when he met Sophia’s cold gaze. “Baby, I’ll go get your
bracelet. Wait here for me.”
He hurried out without waiting for her response. Heart stirring, Sophia followed and discovered them just around the corner-Ethan half-kneeling before Isabella, his large hands gripping her pale calves, his eyes filled with inexplicable
emotion.
He said, “Getting your leg bruised like this over a broken bracelet-does it hurt?”
Isabella guided his hand up her thigh and under her skirt.
Biting her lip, she cooed softly, “Ethan, kiss me and it won’t hurt anymore…”
Before she finished speaking, she blushed and cried out, her body trembling as she fell into Ethan’s arms.
The sticky sounds and his low, coaxing voice reached her ears. Heart feeling like it had a gaping hole, Sophia couldn’t bear it and turned to flee. Ethan never returned until the auction ended.
He only sent her a message: [Baby, there’s a problem here. Go wait in the car. I’ll be right there.]
Sophia stood up woodenly and walked to the underground garage. Just as she opened the car door, someone kicked her calf hard, sending her falling uncontrollably into the car. Sharp pain shot through her knee, and cold sweat instantly
soaked her back.
She instinctively tried to get up, but someone pressed her down firmly. “You stole Isabella’s bracelet and caused her to injure her knee. This is your 98th punishment.”
With that, the hand on her shoulder pressed down hard, glass shards piercing deep into her flesh as the pool of blood
beneath her grew larger…
A few minutes later, the person behind her let go and quickly left the scene.
Just then, her fallen phone received a photo-Isabella’s finger hooked around a jade bracelet.
[Your mother’s bracelet is in my hands. If you don’t want me to destroy it, come to the Smith house within half an hour.]
Sophia was already pale with pain, but she didn’t dare delay. She struggled out of the car and hailed a taxi by the roadside.
The few meters felt like torture…
