Chapter 13
Meanwhile, Caleb was far away in Norway.
He had rolled up his shirt sleeves, his long fingers skillfully chopping vegetables, his downcast eyes focused and serious.
Soon, he brought several dishes to the table, washed his hands, then walked straight to the study door and knocked gently. “Dinner’s ready. Let’s eat first.”
Sophia, sitting at her desk, smiled and responded.
A week ago, Sophia had collapsed at the airport from blood loss and used her last bit of strength to contact Caleb to take her abroad, waking up in Norway.
She had expected Caleb to leave immediately, but surprisingly, he stayed too.
Not only did he cook three blood-nourishing meals a day for her, but he also personally supervised her taking blood-replenishing medicine on schedule.
By now, she could predict the day’s menu without looking.
Sophia sighed softly. “Chef Williams, could we update the menu tomorrow? Try some new dishes?”
Caleb arranged the bowls and chopsticks while firmly refusing. “No. We’ll wait until next week to change, but I bought you
chestnut cake. You can have some after dinner.”
After dinner, Caleb efficiently cleared the dishes and put them in the dishwasher.
After tidying everything, he dried his hands and walked over to Sophia, who was eating cake.
He naturally wiped the cream from the corner of her mouth. “The weather’s nice today. Want to take a walk?”
Sophia felt embarrassed by his gesture and nodded hastily without really hearing what he said.
As they chatted while strolling, Caleb suddenly brought up Sophia’s work. “By the way, I have a friend here who’s studying
design and wants to start a business. Are you interested in opening a studio with her?”
Hearing this, Sophia’s eyes lit up, but then dimmed as she remembered something.
She smiled bitterly, looking at her scarred right hand. “I should pass. My hand can’t hold a pen properly anymore. I have no chance to do design work again.”
The next moment, Caleb gently took her hand. “I found the top neurological surgeon. She studied your medical records carefully. Just two surgeries and you’ll be completely recovered.”
Sophia was stunned and instinctively tried to pull her hand back.
But Caleb suddenly tightened his grip, intertwining their fingers.
He lowered his gaze, his eyes focused and serious. “Sophia, will you trust me?”
Sophia felt burned by the emotion in his eyes and quickly looked away, but her heartbeat grew uncontrollably faster.

After a long silence, she slowly spoke, “I trust you. Anyway, it can’t get worse than it is now.”
As the last word fell, joy flashed in Caleb’s eyes.
They walked shoulder to shoulder toward the apartment, the setting sun stretching their shadows long, as something
seemed to quietly change.
When they reached the building, Caleb stopped. “You go up first. I ordered some flowers to bring up for you to practice
flower arranging.”
Sophia was slightly surprised.
Yesterday at dinner, she had mentioned seeing a flower arranging video that looked interesting, and she’d like to try it herself someday.
She had only mentioned it casually, but Caleb had quietly remembered.
She watched Caleb walk away, entered the apartment, and when the elevator reached her floor, stepped out looking for
her keys.
But as soon as she left the elevator, someone suddenly pulled her into an embrace.
“Sophia, I finally found you.” The man’s voice trembled. “I know I was wrong. Please forgive me, okay?”
