Chapter 14

Memories of being kidnapped and brutally punished flooded back instantly.

Sophia froze, her hands and feet ice-cold, her whole body trembling uncontrollably.

But Ethan didn’t notice her reaction.

He held her tightly, talking to himself about wanting her back. “Sophia, I missed you so much. I’m sorry I shouldn’t have

believed Isabella. Come back with me, okay?”

Hearing the familiar voice, Sophia finally snapped out of it and pushed the man away hard. “Ethan! We’re already divorced!

What are you doing here!”

She couldn’t understand what Ethan was thinking-he had slept with Isabella, hurt her repeatedly for Isabella’s sake,

nearly killed her, and now was chasing her to Norway saying he wanted her back!

This was absolutely disgusting!

Ethan was stung by the coldness and disgust in her eyes.

His voice was strained as he explained, “The Smith family deceived me. I thought Isabella was the one who saved me, so I

promised to protect her. But I love you. I’ve already punished those who hurt you. I never agreed to the divorce. Let’s not

divorce!”

Hearing this, Sophia suddenly laughed. “Love me? You loved me so much you slept with Isabella, hurt me repeatedly

without asking questions, and nearly killed me in the end! Ethan, if this is what you call love, it’s absolutely disgusting!”

As the last word fell, Ethan’s face went deathly pale-he thought Sophia left only because he had protected Isabella, but

never expected she also knew about him sleeping with Isabella, and an unprecedented unease surged through him.

He hastily explained, “It was Isabella who seduced me… I know I was wrong. You can punish me however you want.

Please, come back with me. I’ll make it up to you. Sophia, give me one more chance, okay?”

He reached for Sophia’s hand, trying to force her to leave with him.

But the next moment, an arm reached out from behind and pulled him away. “Let go! Release Sophia!”

Ethan looked back impatiently, and his expression changed when he saw who it was. “Caleb! How are you here…”

Seeing the man’s tense expression, Ethan suddenly understood everything, his face darkening instantly.

No wonder Caleb had repeatedly played him, no wonder he had taken Sophia away and hidden her whereabouts!

Because he had improper intentions toward Sophia!

This thought made Ethan’s anger flare, his fists clenched tight. “Sophia is my wife. This is between us-it’s not your place to interfere, outsider! Get lost!”

But Caleb sneered at his words. “Wife? If I remember correctly, Sophia already divorced you.”

He reached out and directly took Sophia’s hand. “Besides, I’m pursuing Sophia now. Since there’s a better choice, why

would she go back to trash like you?”

Seeing their hands clasped together, Ethan’s face darkened completely.

Just as he was about to say something, his phone suddenly rang.

His assistant’s panicked voice came through. “Mr. Miller, when are you coming back? Your father already knows about the sold shares and your dismissal. He’s looking everywhere for you. We can barely cover for you anymore. Please come back

quickly…”

Though he deliberately lowered his voice, they could still hear angry shouting in the background.

Hearing this, Ethan’s expression changed dramatically.

The Miller family had more than one heir in this generation, and ever since the his father handed him the company, many people had been watching to pull him down-so he’d deliberately kept the share sale and dismissal secret from his father, but meeting Caleb’s mocking gaze, he instantly understood this was all his doing.

But he had no time to settle scores now-he had to return to stabilize the Miller family. “I’ll be right back.”

After hanging up, Ethan looked up. “Sophia, wait for me. I’ll come back after handling company matters!”

He took a deep look at Sophia, then turned and strode away.

Watching Ethan completely leave, Sophia finally relaxed-that failed relationship and marriage had drained all her energy,

and she didn’t want to continue entangling with him.

The warmth on her fingertips brought Sophia back to the present. She hastily let go of Caleb’s hand, looking at him

embarrassedly. “Thank you for helping me out just now…”

Before she could finish, Caleb gently interrupted, “Sophia, I wasn’t helping you out. I was helping myself.”
