Chapter 16
Ethan had originally planned to return home, but just before boarding, he suddenly hesitated-he had finally found Sophia, and if he left now and she disappeared again, where would he look for her?
Remembering the pain and despair of losing her, he ultimately gave up returning home and decided to stay and win
Sophia back.
But he never expected to see this scene as soon as he returned.
Ethan’s eyes were bloodshot. “Sophia, are you trying to kill me? Why are you letting him touch you? I won’t allow it!”
He pressed her shoulders, trying to force a kiss.
But the next moment, Sophia broke free and slapped him hard. “Don’t touch me! Ethan, we’re divorced! Whoever I’m with
has nothing to do with you!”
Before she could finish, a panicked voice suddenly came from behind. “Get out of the way! My bike is out of control! Move!
Get out of the way!”
A motorcycle was heading straight for Sophia.
In the critical moment, Ethan pushed her away and was thrown heavily to the ground, the intense pain making his vision
go black.
Passersby gathered to check his injuries.
When he came to and turned to comfort Sophia, he found her being held by Caleb.
After confirming she was unharmed, Caleb took her hand and walked away.
Throughout it all, Sophia never looked back at him once.
In a daze, Ethan remembered when Sophia was pushed down and hit her head, and he had run off with Isabella without
looking back.
So this was how it felt to be abandoned…
It wasn’t until this moment that he finally realized the Sophia who had once loved him wholeheartedly had truly changed.
She would no longer care about him, no longer feel heartache when he was injured, and wouldn’t even spare him a glance.
It seemed like Sophia really didn’t love him anymore.
The next day, the weather was nice, and Caleb invited Sophia to watch the sunset by the sea.
Nearby, some children were playing and accidentally spilled their drinks on Sophia. “Sorry, miss! I didn’t mean to…”
The little boy stood there, his face red with anxiety, while the other children apologized together.
“Pretty lady, we were wrong! I’ll give you the candy my mom bought me. Please don’t be angry, okay?”

Sophia smiled and gently pinched the boy’s cheek, speaking softly, “It’s okay. I’m not angry. Go play now.”
After watching the children run off, she looked down at her clothes.
She was wearing a light dress today, and after being splashed with the drink, it stuck uncomfortably to her body.
But going home to change would take too long, and she really didn’t want to miss this beautiful scenery.
The next moment, Caleb took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders. “Sophia, wait here for me. I have spare
clothes in the car. I’ll get them for you.”
Watching Caleb’s tall figure walk away quickly, Sophia felt warmth flow through her heart as she quietly looked up at the
slowly setting sun.
Soon, footsteps approached from behind.
Sophia turned around in surprise. “How did you get back so fast…”
When she saw who it was, wariness flashed in her eyes as she demanded coldly, “Ethan? How are you here? Shouldn’t
you be in the hospital?”
Ethan didn’t answer. His face was deathly pale, his bloodshot eyes flickering with obsession and madness.
For some reason, Sophia felt an ominous premonition.
She instinctively turned to leave, but the next moment someone grabbed her waist and pulled her into an embrace. Then a
cloth was pressed over her nose and mouth.
A hoarse voice whispered in her ear. “Sophia, you’re mine. You can’t be with Caleb…”
