Chapter 20
Just as Sophia was about to bite her tongue, the bedroom door was violently kicked open and several tall bodyguards rushed in, quickly subduing the doctor and pinning Ethan to the ground.
Caleb strode in, untying the ropes while his voice trembled with comfort. “I’m sorry I’m late. Are you hurt? It’s all my fault
for not protecting you…”
The moment her hands were free, Sophia threw herself into his arms, tears that had been held back finally falling.
She had been terrified. If Caleb hadn’t arrived in time and the hypnosis had succeeded, would she have forgotten
everything that happened?
Would she easily forgive Ethan, even bear his children and spend her life with him-just thinking about such a life made
her want to die!
Caleb held her tightly, his eyes full of heartache. “Don’t be afraid, Sophia. It’s over. I’m taking you home.”
But Ethan, pinned to the ground, saw this scene and his eyes turned red.
He screamed frantically, “Let her go! Caleb, don’t touch her! Sophia is my wife! Get out!”
But Caleb didn’t even spare him a glance. He took off his jacket and draped it over Sophia’s shoulders, then carried her
out.
When they reached the living room, Caleb set her down and spoke gently, “Sophia, wait here for me. I’ll be right back to
take you home.”
Sophia guessed what Caleb intended to do.
But she didn’t want to stop him. Ethan had not only imprisoned her but even tried to hypnotize her!
Even if he was beaten to death, he deserved it!
The next moment, several loud crashes came from the room, along with faint cries of pain, but soon everything returned
to silence.
As Sophia stepped out of the villa, Ethan’s desperate screams came from behind. “Sophia, don’t go! Please don’t leave
me…”
But she never looked back once.
Two years later, Sophia agreed to Caleb’s proposal.
In the backstage of the wedding venue, as she was putting on earrings, a hotel staff member suddenly entered. “Miss Smith, someone claiming to be your friend wants to see you.”
Sophia was slightly surprised. When she went outside, she discovered it was Emily.
She instinctively looked around but didn’t see anyone else. “What do you want from me?”
Meeting Sophia’s puzzled gaze, Emily pressed her lips together and placed a bank card in her hands. “Take this. It’s what

he prepared for you. The password is your birthday.”
The air around them seemed to fall silent for a moment.
Although Sophia hadn’t seen Ethan in two years, she had heard about his downfall: his affair being exposed, the company’s stock plummeting, being expelled from the Miller family, and Isabella running him over and breaking his legs.
Sophia ultimately accepted the card.
Only after watching Sophia leave did Emily walk to an unnoticed corner.
With red eyes, she looked at the man in the wheelchair, thin as a skeleton. “Was it worth it? With this money, you could have had the surgery and maybe had a chance to live…”
Ethan stared blankly in the direction Sophia had left.
After a long while, he slowly spoke, “It was worth it. Please, after I die, find a cemetery plot closest to her and bury me there.”
