My Marriage 5

Chapter 5

Felix looked at me and coldly ordered, “Get in the car quickly. There’s a problem at the company.”

I sneered, “Felix, we’re about to divorce. What does your company’s problem have to do with

me?”

He flew into a rage, kicked the car door and shouted, “Helena Walpole, I’ll wait for you to regret this. I want to see how you manage to raise your daughter on your own.”

His furious expression was truly ridiculous. I was blind to have ever regarded him as a treasure.

He was busy handling company matters, so it was convenient for me to go home and pick up my daughter.

Actually, after living together for eight years, I didn’t have many belongings.

Back when I first started the business with Felix, we were used to being frugal and even after we became wealthy, I couldn’t shake that habit.

So I decided to start spending freely from now on.

I immediately flew to Bali with my daughter.

I had always told Felix that once we had money, we would definitely go to Bali. Later, when the studio grew into a company, we had enough money to go to Bali hundreds of times, but Felix never once accompanied me and I stopped talking about it.

It wasn’t until I saw the bottle of perfume he gave to Gwen that I realized. I suddenly realized that Gwen had only mentioned it in passing, yet he remembered it so clearly. How could he forget the wish I had been repeating every day for years?

He just thought I wasn’t worthy.

My daughter was only six months old but was already calling me “Mom” with some semblance of clarity.

She seemed to know I was happy and her demeanour became much livelier.

But on the eve of our departure back to the country, it rained and she suddenly developed a high fever in the middle of the night.

When we arrived at the hospital, a few medical staff were around. Just as I was frantically trying o figure it out, a pair of large hands grabbed me.

‘Don’t worry, follow me now.”

The man in a white coat examined my daughter with a stethoscope before speaking slowly, “It’s nothing serious. It’s just a sudden drop in temperature and infants are prone to colds. She’ll be ine with some medicine.”

The rain had been falling steadily. Taking my daughter home now would risk catching another cold on the way home, so we decided to wait in the hospital corridor for the rain to stop.

The man suddenly walked toward me and said gently, “The corridor is cold. Why don’t you come to my office to sit for a while? Give me the medicine and I’ll go wash up.”

Indeed, professional matters should be handled by professionals. When he fed the medicine to the baby, she was surprisingly well-behaved.

He coaxed and soothed her and the baby imitated him, opening her little mouth. In just a few minutes, she had swallowed all the medicine.

I had thought we would only meet once, but I didn’t expect to see him again on the plane.

“Did I forget to ask your name?”

I smiled lightly. “Helena Walpole.”

He introduced himself as “Louise Humphrey.”

After getting off the plane, he gave me his business card.

“Last time, I was just doing an exchange program in Bali. I’m actually a pediatrician at the First Affiliated Hospital of Kyiv Slavonic University. If you have any questions about Irene, feel free to consult me.”
