Chapter 2
After Astrid came back, Theo didn’t think about me even once–just like I expected.
I completely abandoned my old post–divorce routine of obsessively tracking Theo’s every move and staking out places he might show up.
Instead, Camilla and I were living our best lives–steak and caviar for every meal, late–night barbecue and beer sessions. It was pure bliss.
Before I knew it, there were only 20 days left before my departure.
Camilla and I were waiting for our food at a restaurant when we ran into Theo and Astrid.
Theo had his arm around Astrid’s waist, both of them laughing and chatting as they walked in. They looked perfect
match.
“Marina?”
Theo’s eyes locked onto me immediately.
Astrid wrapped her arms around Theo’s neck affectionately, her smile sickeningly sweet.
“Marina! What a coincidence–you’re here for dinner too?”
When Theo noticed me looking at Astrid, he instinctively stepped forward, shielding her behind him.
I knew he was afraid I’d lose it and physically attack Astrid like I used to.
But not only did I stay put, I even held back Camilla, who was ready to jump to my defense.
1 shrugged with a carefree smile.
“Yeah, what a coincidence.”
Sensing my retreat, Astrid’s smile grew even more brazen.
“Sorry, Marina, but Theo promised to book out the entire restaurant just for me tonight. I’m afraid you’ll have to find somewhere else to eat.”
She tugged on Theo’s arm playfully, pouting“Right, Theo? Come on, back me up here–otherwise Marina’s going to think I’m deliberately targeting her.”
For a moment, when Theo met my surprisingly indifferent gaze, suspicion flickered across his face. But in the end, he nodded at me.
He didn’t say a word, but somehow that was worse than if he’d said plenty.
Camilla had already rolled up her sleeves, ready for a fight, but I gently pressed her arm down.

Chapter 2
“It’s okay. We can go somewhere else.”
Somewhere else. Somewhere without Theo.
With my departure so close, I didn’t want to waste any more time on pointless arguments with a damn ex–husband.
After all, as a proper ex, shouldn’t I treat Theo Camden like he was already dead?
The restaurant manager, reading the room perfectly, stepped forward to fawn over Theo and Astrid, “You two are
so in love–it’s truly enviable to see.”
At those words, Theo’s complicated gaze fell on me, as if he was both wary of what I might say and curious about what I was thinking.
But I just acted like I hadn’t heard anything, took Camilla’s hand, and got up to leave.
Theo clearly hadn’t expected zero reaction from me. He stared after my retreating figure, completely dazed.
Astrid called his name over and over, her voice growing increasingly impatient,he finally looked away reluctantly.
