Magique is falling apart under the reign of the Wolfes. Before the war between the alphas began, I offered my alliance to Vincent Senior after the rumors of his daughter’s disappearance turned out

to be true.

Without a complete alpha heir, the Wolfes’ once-powerful position slowly began to deteriorate, but the fall of the once-glorious family didn’t begin until Eloise Lockwood became the major shareholder of their company. She doesn’t own the entirety of Wolfe Incorporated, but their Tech is what gave the Wolfes their name.

They were the first to present the advancement of Supernatural living. They have contracts with witches and vampire covens who work around the clock, so they have the best of everything. I wanted a piece of it. Together, we could have been great.

The rejection left a sour taste in my mouth. I planned on walking away. However, I saw an opportunity to speak with the next alpha of Blood Ridge. Vincent Wolfe Jr. The fuck scoffed at me. Told me that his old man had already told me to fuck off.

But here we are.

Little Vincent presented an alliance pack, hand-delivered and everything. I told him the same thing he told me all those years ago. The look on his face was priceless. The alphas are going to start scrapping Blood Ridge soon enough, and I plan on letting them.

The hits that Vincent and I have been exchanging aren’t something that can be overlooked. He killed my pregnant girlfriend. I’ve killed a handful of his lovers. And the story goes on and on. We divided the city down the middle, and for the most part, I have the upper hand. He knows that. Everyone does. He doesn’t have many choices left.

“You’re not going to believe this.” Marget, my beta’s sister, walks into my garage with a shit-eating grin on her face.

“What do you want, Maggie?”

“It’s her,” she places her phone on my work table.

I take it to find a woman sitting in one of my bars. She’s beautiful. A little on the short side but rounded in all the right places. She has these big, beautiful, gunmetal blue eyes. Her long hair is tied up on the top of her head in a huge, messy bun. She looks like the kind of woman that likes nice expensive shit. I look up at Maggie, wanting an explanation.

“The rest of the Wolfe alpha,” she says in a rush.

My chest constricts, and a smile crosses my lips. I hand her the phone back.

“Is she there now?”

“Yes, she just got there,” she nods quickly. “The omega at the bar just called it in. She’s a rogue.”

A rogue in my bar in the middle of the city I want. The things I can do to this little bitch.

Without hesitation, I mount my chopper and head straight to Wise Men. I built this bar when I became the alpha of Sin’s Creek. I wanted to find my mate, and while the location worked for thousands of others, I never had such luck. I’m thirty-eight now, but I was ready to settle down before I hit thirty.

Vincent has been interfering with that for years now. Making sure that I don’t take a Luna. Maddie was the daughter of the alpha Luna Wolfe killed. Our mating would have shattered the Wolfe family. I would own the city already. But that sneaky little fuck is really good at playing war games and he has not moral compass when it comes to his pack.

This is the perfect opportunity to get a little of what he’s taken from me back. Killing his twin sister would leave him forever vulnerable. There would be no way for him to gain that power back. I doubt his strategies could save them then.

The thoughts of wrapping my hand around this bitch’s throat have my blood rushing. I keep my breathing leveled. I need to get her out of the bar and somewhere secluded. A little thing like this shouldn’t be too hard to handle.

I enter the bar from the back entrance and make my way to the main floor where she’s sitting, completely unaware of her surroundings. Like most women like her, she’s on her phone. My wolf bristles at the thought of killing her.

I know, Jamerson. With this, we’ll have the last laugh. Madeline and our pup will finally be avenged.

I take a step forward, but my wolf stops me. A sense of unease creeps down my spine when those steel blue eyes harden and scan her surroundings in a way that isn’t fitting of a little girl like her. It’s predatory, and just as easily as she tapped into it, the warmth in her eyes returns as her phone pings. Her stoic facade turns into a smile as she taps away at her phone.

Fuck. I know this girl. Not personally. I’ve worked with her associates. One in particular has taken the stage now that she’s the fucking Lycan Queen. Violetta Wilde. How is it possible that no one has pieced that together? Violetta Wilde is a Wolfe. She not only works for one of the biggest underground syndicates but also the richest, most ruthless mortals alive-the Thornes.

Okay. So that’s where the other half went, Vince. My question is, what half of the alpha is this? I know very little about Vincent’s personal life. Our exchanges have centered around our war. I know he can be a piece of shit, but that’s only because I’ve provoked him. Whatever. She has to die

anyway.

“No way.” I step out onto the floor, catching her attention. “The woman, the myth, the legend. Violetta Wilde,”

I don’t know what reaction I expected, but the way the color drains from her face tells me she knows she’s fucked. That coldness from before snaps back into place, and she looks around, taking in her surroundings before turning those cold eyes back to me.

Chapter 7

“Alpha Barnes,” her very feminine voice sends a thrill down my spine. “Am I trespassing?”

“A little, but you’re good.” She’s standing now. She’s petite. The top of her head barely reaches the height of my chest. “What are you doing here?”

“Just stopped for a drink,” she says, taking her eyes off me to look at something on the table. She’s not scared despite her demeanor. I breathe in, and I’m surprised that she’s masking her scent. All I get is the perfume she’s wearing. It smells very expensive. “I can go. I didn’t know I was on claimed territory.”

“You’re fine, Violetta. The bar is neutral territory. Are you here with your human?” I ask.

Everyone knows about the little girl who hangs off Zander Thorne’s every word. The fuck knows she’s in love with him and he strings her along. Keeps her close enough to show everyone she belongs to him, but he doesn’t claim her. No, that’s not what he needs her for.

“He’s not my human,” she says bitterly. “I just work for him.”

“He know that?” Now that I know who she is. It’s a little insulting to all wolves, even if she is the sister of the enemy-a flash of the warmth from before breaks through.

aving off the comment. That coldness snaps back into place again.

“He has a girlfriend,” she says, “I’m not- I love my job. That’s it.”

She clears her throat and averts her gaze.

“Mind if I take a seat? What are you drinking?” I ask.

I can press up on that. She clearly came here for a reason, and by her reaction, it was dear Mr. Thorne’s fault. I must thank him, though. One day, when I’m the alpha of the city, maybe I’ll offer him a place at my table. Hunters are very well-connected.

“Not at all, sir. I’m not sure. The bartender made it for me,” she says, sliding back onto the stool easily. Her legs hang there, and I have to admit that it’s kind of adorable. I wave for Alondra to bring us more drinks.

“There’s no need for formalities, Violetta. We’re just two people who know about each other at a bar. You can call me by my name.” I’m sure dear brother has told her all about me.

“I don’t actually know your name, sir,” she says politely.

None of the other Wolfes have ever shown any kind of manners when they’re around me or my wolves. They know all about me and Vincent’s battles. Does she not know? How could she not? I feel I should take a substantial place in Vincent Wolfe’s head, given our predicaments.

“Arsenial, but everyone calls me Arsen.”
