Chapter 11

Chapter 11

“Is this the mouth breather?” Mr. Thorne steps forward and then looks over at me.

Oh. My. Wolf. This isn’t good. What the hell is he doing here? How did he even find me? He’s not even allowed on this side of town. The giant gapping asshole is trespassing.

“Mouth breather?” Alpha Barnes growls.

“No,” I shake my head. “I-um. Fuck, today has been fucking me up left and right,” I groan. “This is my boss, Mr. Barnes.”

“Mr. Barnes?” he grimaces. “No one calls me that, baby girl.”

“Oh, my god,” Riley squeaks from behind me. My flabber is gasted, and I have no idea what to say. “Zan, why don’t we give Vy and Mr. Barnes some privacy?” She wraps her arms around his left arm and starts pulling him away. She couldn’t be more delighted when her big, shy girl eyes meet mine. Bitch. “Bye, Vy,”

“Bye, Riley.” I shut my eyes, feeling my entire body flare, and then turn my attention to my boss. “Mr. Thorne,”

“We’ll talk about this later,” he says, glaring at me. “Get another phone.”

“Yes, sir,” I nod, not wanting to argue.

“I got yours right here, Princess,” Alpha Barnes holds up my phone. “You forgot it.”

Kill me.

“I thought you left it at the bar you went to? Since when do you go to bars? This guy looks like a thug.” Mr. Thorne doesn’t turn away from me.

“You should go,” I say, looking up at him. “Before this gets ugly.” Mr. Thorne stands there with Riley’s arm still looped around his. “Sorry about the drama, Riley. You guys caught me off guard.”

“It’s okay, Violet,” she says without meeting my stare. Mr. Thorne snaps out of his stupidity, suddenly remembering that his girlfriend is present. “We’ll see you later.”

I watch them get into his car and drive off. I jump when his big hand lands on my shoulder.

“Look at that, huh? Are those His and Her cars?” he asks mockingly. “The blue to your pinky pie car, Princess?”

“I don’t have to explain myself to you, Alpha Barnes. You’re trespassing. The treaty isn’t effective until after the Alliance Promenade.” I slip the phone out of his hand. “Thank you for bringing my phone. I think you should go. My idiot brother is here, and the last thing I want is to call in patrol.”

I want to know how he found me because this phone doesn’t lead back to me. It leads to my office. Nothing leads back to this apartment, and it never has. Did he hack me? There’s no way. No tech on

earth can hack a Perry-built security system unless it’s Perry herself or one of the Phurry siblings. The last two are dead as far as I’m concerned.

“I’ll go if you agree to meet me tonight,” he says tightly.

“Fine. I know you went through my phone. It’s linked to my other devices. I know you texted yourself so you could have my number. Text me the details. I hope you told your little hacker buddy that all the information you saw is confidential. I could be fired if my boss knew you saw what you did.”

“I didn’t have a hacker look at it. You left it on the table unlocked. This is a Wolfe Tech model. If you want real protection, you go to Lycan Tech, baby. My buddy’s genius mate owns it and she’s the greatest tech junkie in the world. Wolfe Tech could never,” he smirks. “I didn’t see anything worth getting fired over. I’m going to text you, and you better answer.”

Is he friends with Jonas? Perry didn’t mention that. I know she’s interacted with him a few times and that he scares her, but she didn’t mention the King.

I don’t have a comeback. His dominating presence is enough to keep me from saying something disrespectful. My father taught me as much. I simply nod and watch him backtrack to his bike. The roar of the bike makes me jump. The asshole grins as he puts his helmet on. I watch him drive away and then finally breathe. I didn’t realize I was holding my breath.

The pretty paint job on that thing is spectacular. I’d recognize it anywhere.

“What was that?” I scream at

the sound of my youngest sister’s voice.

Pepper,” I growl at her. She laughs, loving my reaction.

Oh, my goddess, Vy. Are you fucking the alpha of Sin’s Creek?” she all but screams. I cover her mouth. “You are,” she mumbles against my hand. “No wonder he the alliance. Way to take

dreed to one for the team.”

“Fuck you. I did not take one for the team. I-” I stop myself from telling her the truth. “No one can

know. Got it?”

“Zip and done,” she says, zipping her fingers across her face, locking the door, and throwing away the key.

“What are you doing here?” I laugh.

“Big Nose said you were sick and hadn’t been to work in a couple of days. You were sick, alright,” she giggles deviantly.

“He’s already here,” I roll my eyes. “Mr. Thorne and his new girlfriend were also here. I walked them down. Alpha Barnes ambushed me. Everyone has today,”

“Aww, you’ve never been a social pup,” she pats my head. I groan and walk us inside. She’s tall, and I’m not. Everyone in my family pats my head like that, I blame Vince and his imposing six-foot-five stature. He stole my height. I’m convinced. “Let’s get rid of the extras, and you can tell me what’s

“Really?” I grin, loving that she’s here.

Pricilla is the baby, and I love having her around. She used to sleep between Verona and me when we were three kids, just trying our best to raise her and Matty.

It was so hard trying to get away from Dad while trying to explain to my little brother and sister that I wasn’t abandoning them. Then the asshole forbade them from seeing me for four years before he realized that he was the reason I left. He and the way he treated all of us. Especially

Vincent.

Now, every time I see either of them. I relish their presence because I haven’t seen them in so long. I missed so much of their lives. She’s going to be eighteen this year. She got into Nova Tech University and will be attending in the spring. If I’m right, she will ask if she can move in with me since Nova-Tech is fifteen minutes away from the clock tower.

“I missed you so much.” I take her hand and kiss the top of it.

“Me too,” she laughs. “Dad sent me over, actually. With your invitation to the alliance ball next week,”

“Ugh. A ball? Couldn’t we just do a plain old garden Promenade?”

“This is on Verona,” she rolls her eyes. “She suggested it.”
