Second floor, inside a lavishly decorated conference room-
Selene greeted every academic luminary and high–ranking official in the room with poised confidence.
As soon as she took her seat, several of the power players immediately tried to win
her over.
Selene glanced at Leo, her lashes curling elegantly and her eyes shining. “My ambition is to join the Draco Research Institute.”
For a moment, everyone was stunned. It was obvious Selene knew exactly what she wanted–she hadn’t even hesitated before aiming straight for the top.
All eyes turned to Leo, waiting to see if he would accept Selene into the prestigious Draco Research Institute.
Selene reached into her bag and retrieved a dossier, then stood and walked over to
Leo.
“This is my ticket to get through Draco’s doors.”
Leo took the file from her, a flicker of surprise crossing his otherwise composed
face.
“The prospectus for Thompson Victory Technologies?”
He was curious–what was she getting at by handing him her family company’s
prospectus?
“The Draco Institute’s research requires access to a range of rare metals, but many of your experiments are highly confidential. My father’s company, Thompson Victory Technologies, controls numerous rare metal resources.”
Leo handed the folder back to her. “I don’t trust your father’s company.”
Selene didn’t take it. She smiled at Leo and asked, “But what if Thompson Victory Technologies becomes my company?”
Leo looked up at her, his calm, penetrating gaze seeming to see right through her.
She continued, “Thompson Victory Technologies‘ profits have been declining year after year. My father is already preparing to sell the company’s core patents to OmniCore Technologies. And I suspect OmniCore is after more than just our technology.”

Selene’s tone turned resolute. “I won’t let Thompson Victory Technologies fall into foreign hands.”
Leo’s expression didn’t change in the slightest; he might as well have been asking her if she wanted something to eat, his tone utterly serene:
“Within two months, secure full ownership of Thompson Victory Technologies.”
The business moguls in the room all drew sharp breaths.
“That’s asking the impossible…”
They had all done their homework on Selene’s background.
“Miss Thompson just finalized her divorce, and if I recall, she only returned to the family at eighteen. She doesn’t even hold shares in Thompson Victory
Technologies. Pulling off a complete takeover in two months? That’s no small feat.”
Xavier chimed in, “And Victor Thompson is already negotiating to sell the company to OmniCore. Clearly, he never intended for his children to inherit his business.”
Selene shook her head at Leo. “Two months isn’t enough.”
Leo tossed the file onto the coffee table. “If you can’t do it, it’s a sign of poor efficiency and lack of ability.”
“My father is set to sign the contract with OmniCore next month. That means I have
one month to take control of Thompson Victory Technologies–and I will.”
Her words made several of the business titans‘ eyes widen in shock.
Xavier’s jaw nearly hit the floor.
For the first time, Leo really looked at Selene.
“Good.” He didn’t question her resolve.
Chairman Winston stroked his chin thoughtfully. “Miss Thompson, if you can pull this off in a month, I’d like to invite you to be Chief Technology Advisor at Tok Holdings. Name your salary, equity, benefits–whatever you want, it’s yours.”
Xavier jumped in, “Winston, don’t you dare cut in line! Miss Thompson, if you take over Thompson Victory Technologies, I’d be honored to have you join the faculty at Capital University. Whatever lab you want, whatever research team you need, I’ll make it happen.”
A government official, enjoying the spirited competition, grinned and added,
