Zora’s surgery finished in the midnight.
For some reason, I didn’t follow my body to the morgue. Instead, I found my soul bound within six feet of Elias.
He seemed to have completely forgotten about me. He waited in recovery for two hours until Zora was fully awake before heading back to the room together.
Elias personally carried Zora to her bed, fluffed an extra pillow behind her, and waited for the nurse to hang her IV before glancing toward my empty bed.
“Where’s Elara?”
The nurse hesitated, caught off guard by his unexpected calmness. Then she chose her words carefully. “Her mom picked her up earlier tonight.”
Elias just nodded without another word.
After a moment, I watched him walk to the window and pull out his phone. The contact screen showed “Wifey.”
He seemed to hesitate, his long fingers hovering over the call button, when Zora’s voice came from behind him.
Zora sat up in bed, pale and wringing her hands anxiously, putting on her most pitiful voice. “Elias… maybe you should give her a call? I mean, I’m sure she didn’t realize that tiny little push would hurt me so badly. She probably
feels terrible…”
Elias paused, his eyes flashing with anger as they swept over Zora’s injured leg. Then he immediately closed out of
is contacts.
He walked back to Zora’s bedside, gently stroking her hair with infinite tenderness.
She doesn’t deserve it. If I don’t make her face what she’s done for a few days, she’ll never understand how wrong
he was.”
What?
was so furious I could’ve laughed.
f I could touch Elias, I would’ve kicked his ass right then and there.
Wrong? WRONG? What the hell did I do wrong?!
saw that motorcycle about to hit Zora and pushed her out of the way!

Chapter 3
Didn’t you see that my head got hit by the motorcycle and I had a brain hemorrhage?
The brain injury made me forget everything at the time, but now that I’m dead, I remember it all!
But then, I deflated immediately. Even if I remembered, it wouldn’t make a difference. Elias was never going to believe me anyway.
Elias stayed by Zora’s bedside all through the night until next morning.
When he walked out of Zora’s room for shift change, everyone was visibly shocked.
After an awkward silence, one of the residents he was closest to tentatively spoke up. “Dr. Shaw… your girlfriend… aren’t you going back to see her?”
Elias waved dismissively, clearly not wanting to hear anything about me. “Doesn’t matter. It’s no big deal anyway.”
Since Elias had spoken, no one else dared to say anything.
I just heard one of the female residents whisper during rounds, “I had no idea Dr. Shaw was so cold–blooded.”
I snorted. Elias wasn’t cold–blooded at all.
Not until rounds reached Zora’s room.
Elias’s entire expression softened. “I’m personally handling this patient’s dressing changes. A girl’s body shouldn’t
to carry scars”
ed at that same female resident who’d called him cold–blooded earlier. She was completely stunned.
See? When it comes to Zora, he’s a totally different person.
