Chapter 5
The color drained from Logan’s face. He stood frozen in shock.
“L–listening device? That’s impossible!”
“There must be some mistake. I’ve attended dozens of international conferences–I know exactly what’s permitted and what isn’t!”
Yet the security officers ignored his protests, firmly gripping his shoulders and escorting him toward the exit.
Logan struggled wildly against their hold.
“What do you think you’re doing? I’m the head of our American translation team! You can’t treat me like this!”
“I demand to speak with your supervisor! I swear I’ve been framed!”
The head of security remained stone–faced.
“As a leader, you should be especially familiar with protocol for high–level meetings. Your actions constitute a Class A violation, and you must come with us.”
“Rest assured, once the investigation is complete, you WILL meet our supervisor. For now, please cooperate.”
With a curt nod, he ordered, “Take him away.”
Then he turned to us. “Ladies and gentlemen, you’ll need to come with us as well.”
I nodded and led my anxious team members to follow quickly.
Representatives from other countries watched the scene unfold with shock and whispers.
“Isn’t that the American delegation? Why are they being detained?”
“I heard someone was carrying a listening device.”
“A listening device? Are they insane? Could one of them be a spy?”

His Top Secret Mistress. My Top Clearance Revenge
Chapter 5
“A spy wouldn’t be this stupid, would they? That’s like walking straight into a trap. Either way, they’ve thoroughly embarrassed our country on foreign soil…” whispered one of the observers.
My team members anxiously huddled around me:
“Autumn, what are we going to do now? We obviously can’t attend the conference anymore. How
will we explain this to the Director–General?”
“Missing the conference is the least of our worries. If they confirm Director Reed was carrying a listening device, the entire Translation Bureau could go down with him.”
“I warned him before we left that his smartwatch hadn’t been cleared through security. He insisted
it wasn’t an issue, and now look…”
“Enough talking. Let’s hear what Autumn suggests.”
Next second, all eyes turned to me.
I maintained complete composure, not showing a trace of panic.
“Stay calm. We’re just cooperating with an investigation.”
“Remember, the innocent have nothing to fear. We need to trust the National Security team’s investigation process. No one can accuse us of something we didn’t do.”
“Besides, Director Reed already stated before we left that if any of his belongings caused problems, he would take full responsibility.”
My confident words immediately calmed the anxious team members. They stood firmly behind me, ready to follow my lead.
Watching Logan struggle against his escorts ahead of us, a cold gleam flashed in my eyes.
Logan, Bailey–it’s finally time to settle our accounts.
