This time around, I followed Logan’s wishes and stayed out of his business.
Two weeks after his departure from the Translation Bureau, I took over his position as Team Leader and successfully became the Bureau’s Chief Translator.
That evening after work, I saw a familiar figure waiting at the entrance of the Bureau–it was Logan.
In just two short weeks, his former confidence had vanished. He looked haggard and disheveled.
When he saw me, his dull eyes suddenly brightened. He rushed toward me.
“Honey-” he began, but I immediately cut him off.
“Stop right there, Mr. Reed. We’re in the process of divorce, so please don’t address me that way.”
“Autumn, please don’t be like this. I came to apologize.”
I didn’t respond, just waited for him to continue.
“I know I made mistakes, but I was deceived by that manipulative Bailey! I had no idea she was a spy planted to get close to me.”
‘She was constantly driving a wedge between us. Without her interference, we would never have
ended up like this.”
‘Autumn, sweetheart, didn’t you say yourself that those who act in ignorance shouldn’t be blamed?
Please, forgive me just this once and give me another chance. I promise I’ll never let you down
again.”
Seeing that I remained silent, he stepped closer, his voice taking on that familiar tone of tenderness and pleading:
‘Honey, I only realized after you filed for divorce that I’ve always loved you. I just hadn’t recognized my true feelings before.”
I finally spoke, my voice cold and laced with unmistakable disgust:
‘Logan, would you please stop nauseating me?”

But he continued as if he hadn’t heard me:
“I know you’re still angry. You can yell at me, hit me–I won’t hold it against you.”
“You’ve always wanted to be Chief Translator, right? I’ve already spoken with my father. He says if you don’t divorce me, he’ll make sure you get that position.”
I smiled slightly and held up my Chief Translator credentials, waving them in front of him.
“Don’t bother. I’ve got here on my own merit.”
“Logan, I’ll tell you one last time–if you don’t want your affair to become public knowledge, sign the divorce papers immediately.”
With that, I walked past him and left.
But Logan seemed unable to accept the reality of our divorce. Every day, he waited outside the Translation Bureau for me to finish work.
Not just me, but even my team members showed him no sympathy.
“Ugh! His sudden devotion is cheaper than dirt! Autumn, you’re amazing–you could have any man you want. Don’t take back this trash!”
“Exactly! Autumn, a premium jerk like Logan Reed isn’t even worth roadside garbage.”
I nodded with a smile.
“Don’t worry, guys I know better. I’m not running a recycling center here!”
Through the floor–to–ceiling windows, I could see Logan standing alone at the entrance, looking utterly exhausted.
But my heart felt absolutely NOTHING for him anymore.
The memories of my previous life were too painful–even now, thinking about them made me tremble with fear.
So, how could I possibly go back to Logan after everything?
From that day on, he persisted in contacting me.

Chapter 9
Every day brought a barrage of texts and emails.
Opening these messages revealed predictable content:
“I’m sorry.”
“I
“I was wrong.”
“Can you really discard everything we had together?”
“Didn’t you once promise to stay by my side as we both became the best translators?”
After briefly scanning these messages, I deleted them all.
Eventually, the messages became less frequent.
A month later, I received Logan’s final email.
He said he agreed to the divorce, and attached a signed copy of our divorce agreement.
I immediately took the agreement to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
When I received the divorce certificate, I let out a deep sigh of relief.
In this life, I had finally changed my destiny.
Walking out of the bureau, the sunlight felt wonderfully warm on my skin.
Logan followed dejectedly behind me.
As I was about to get into a taxi, he suddenly called out:
“Autumn, do we have a chance to start over someday?”
I didn’t even turn around, just coldly replied:
“I don’t debase myself for anyone, so please don’t debase yourself in front of me. We can only be
strangers from now on.”
With that, I quickly got into the taxi.
For the rest of my days, life would be peaceful at last.
