In the hospital room, Dominic sat by his mother’s bedside. After the wedding fiasco, Mrs. Thorne had suffered complications from the shock and had just been transferred from intensive care to a
regular ward.
There was a soft knock at the door–his assistant.
“How is it?” Dominic asked wearily. “Did you find her?”
The assistant nodded. “Ms. Bailey went to France. She’s now a designer at Santa.”
“Santa…” Dominic repeated. “Book me the earliest flight to France.”
After arranging everything, he rushed to the airport, but as he stepped outside, a woman who had been waiting lunged forward and embraced him.
Aurelia had been waiting there for hours. She couldn’t even approach the building where Mrs. Thorne was hospitalized, and Dominic had been by his mother’s side constantly, making it impossible for her to see him.
“Dominic… I’ve been texting you but you never reply. I’ve been so worried about you…” she clung to him desperately.
“Worried about me?” Dominic pushed her away with a cold laugh. “What is there to worry about? I’ve been taking care of my mother–who’s in the hospital because of you. What right do you have to worry about me?”
“I’m your wife! We got our marriage certificate, didn’t we?” Aurelia wrapped herself around him again. She couldn’t understand why the man who once catered to her every whim was now so impatient. “We’re married, Dominic!”
“And what of it?” Dominic’s head was pounding. “Who knows how that certificate came to be? I only ever got a marriage certificate with Winter!”
Hearing Winter’s name again, Aurelia’s voice suddenly rose. She was like a cornered animal, red–eyed and screaming: “You said you didn’t like her! When did you start caring about her?”
Dominic grabbed her hair, pulling her back, and warned her through gritted teeth: “That’s my business.”

‘Your business?” Aurelia laughed coldly. “Dominic Thorne, we’re spouses now. How can it be just your business? This is our business.”
She emphasized “our” very clearly.
‘Is that so?” Dominic released her. “Spouses? If I recall correctly, your ex, Chase, crashed our wedding.”
At the mention of Chase, Aurelia’s lips twitched and her body went limp. She clutched Dominic’s legs, begging desperately.
“We’ve broken up, Dominic, believe me, we broke up long ago…”
Dominic bent down, tilting her chin up with disdainful amusement. “How long ago? The night before our wedding?”
Aurelia stared at him in disbelief, wondering how he knew.
No longer wanting to look at her, he kicked her away in disgust. As he was about to leave, Aurelia’s hysterical voice rang out:
‘Are you playing the devoted lover now, Dominic Thorne? You think I’m the villain who drove Winter away? You think I’m unforgivable?”
‘Well, wasn’t it all with your permission? Wasn’t it you who allowed me to treat her that way?”
‘The hospital had other blood donors, right? But you insisted on using her. You were the one who hit ner! You chose not to save her!”
‘I did those things because I loved you and wanted to keep you with me. But you? You just wanted to hurt her… AHH!”
Dominic could listen no more. He turned and violently grabbed Aurelia’s throat. She quickly struggled to breathe.
‘Dominic!” A voice from afar pulled him back to reality. He looked up to see his mother standing at he hospital entrance. She watched in horror as he nearly strangled Aurelia, and as she rushed forward, her weakened legs gave way, sending her tumbling down the stairs.
