The soft morning light spilled into the quaint bedroom, bathing Rosalie’s pale face as she slowly stirred from her sleep.
She shifted slightly, her whole body sore, feeling as though she had been taken apart and put back together with an unmistakable throbbing pain below…
The remnants of last night’s escapades were still visible on the white sheets.
However, the man was nowhere to be found.
He left.
Perhaps it was for the best. She could simply regard last night as a fleeting, beautiful illusion. It could serve as a poignant farewell to her fading youth.
Yet despite these thoughts, a subtle sense of emptiness began to seep into Rosalie’s heart.
Just then, her phone erupted with a ring.
Rosalie quickly grabbed her phone from the floor, checking the caller ID–it was her best friend, Regina.
“Rosa!”
Right as she answered, Regina’s voice burst through, laced with excitement and tears, “Where have you
been? Do you know how many times I tried calling you last night? Why didn’t you pick up? I was about to call the police!“/
“I …”
Rosalie started to respond but ultimately fell silent. “Never mind me for now. What about you? Did you catch Ethan yesterday?”
“I did.”
Regina sobbed even harder, “That jerk is truly vile! How could I have ever fallen for him? I must have been blind! Rosa, guess how old that woman is? She’s forty–five!!”
Rosalie was taken aback.

Rosalie was somewhat impressed with herself. Even in her own time of need, she still found the strength to comfort others.
She should be the one crying!
She stood up for her friend, but inadvertently, she ended up compromising her own virtue …

“Rosa, are you listening to me?”
“Huh?”
Rosalie was snapped back to reality by Regina’s voice. “What did you just say?”
“I asked, where were you last night? I couldn’t find you anywhere.”
“Didn’t you say their room number was 5888? But when I went there, it was different.”
“It is 5888, Room 888 on the fifth floor!”
“Room 888 on the fifth floor?”
“Yes! You didn’t end up in Room 88 on the 58th floor, did you?”

“My friend told me there’s only one room on the 58th floor! It’s reserved for a VIP customer of the hotel! It’s never available to the public!”
Clearly, that VIP customer was Thomas!
No wonder when she entered, she saw ‘VVIP exclusive‘ written on the door.
However, she did not dwell on it much!
“Rosa, did you

up in the wrong room? Is everything okay? Did anyone give you trouble?”
Regina was clearly concerned.

“Who was it?”

Only then did she notice an unopened pack of birth control pills and a bottle of water on the bedside table.
Beside the water was a thick stack of banknotes!
It was glaringly conspicuous!
The sight of the money almost stung her eyes.
She closed her eyes and swallowed the pill with some water.
It tasted bitter and slightly astringent as it dissolved in her mouth, leaving an uncomfortable sensation.
As for the stack of money, she had no desire to keep it.
