hapter 3
He had the kitchen prepare my favorite foods.
Halfway through eating, I heard a car pulling up outside.
I set down my knife and fork and walked over to the floor–to–ceiling windows.
Just in time to see Kieran getting out of his car.
Actually, the two of them weren’t that hard to tell apart.
Kieran was slightly taller than Camden.
His build was also more upright and solid.
But he wasn’t wearing glasses.
He had on a black business suit similar in style to Camden’s.
At first glance from behind, they still looked very much alike.
I pushed open the door and walked out.
When Kieran looked over, I put on a sweet, shy smile.
Walking toward him with slightly unsteady steps: “Camden, where’s my medicine?”
Kieran looked down at me.
He didn’t immediately deny it.
I hugged his arm and started feeling around his pockets.
“Where did you hide the ointment?”
When I reached his pants pocket, he suddenly pressed down on my hand.
“What ointment?” he asked, his voice somewhat hoarse.
I stamped my feet: “Stop pretending! Didn’t I tell you? You hurt me last night…”
Kieran didn’t respond.
But his Adam’s apple, wrapped in the meticulously buttoned collar of his shirt, bobbed violently again.
Chapter 3
He seemed somewhat irritated, his brow furrowing slightly.
He reached up and loosened his tie.
Only then did he look down at me again: “I just remembered, I need to check the injury first before I can tell the doctor what kind of ointment you need.”
“Camden!” My face instantly turned red with embarrassment.
Kieran’s gaze swept inch by inch over my neck and chest, over those crimson kiss marks.
His eyes seemed to burn with a flame.
That flame seemed to be scorching me too.
It almost made me unable to handle it.
“What’s there to be shy about… Harper, it’s not like I haven’t seen it before.”
“I’m not talking to you anymore.”
I glared at him angrily and turned to leave.
But Kieran gripped my wrist tightly: “Alright, I’ll stop teasing you.”
He pulled me into his arms, my back pressed against his solid chest.
A perfect fit.
He lowered his head, his chin brushing against the hair by my ear, his breath burning hot.
He seemed about to kiss me, and I instinctively closed my eyes…
But just then, another car engine sounded.
Kieran and I both turned around.
We saw a black car speeding toward us.
Before it had even stopped, the door was pushed open from inside,
Camden got out and looked at Kieran and me locked in a tight embrace.
He stood perfectly still, his face cold and frozen, as if covered in frost.
My eyes suddenly widened.
I looked at Kieran in front of me with some bewilderment.
Chapter 3
“Big brother, Harper, what are you two doing?”
Camden slowly walked over.
He was carrying a paper bag in one hand.
There was even a faint smile on his face.
“Big, big brother?”
I seemed terrified, frantically pushing Kieran away.
“Camden, I, I mistook him for someone else…”
“Big brother isn’t wearing glasses today, so I thought, I thought he was you…”
By the end, my voice was already trembling with tears.
Even my eyes were rimmed with red.
I stood there awkwardly, my face full of panic and anxiety.
Camden yanked me behind him and glared fiercely.
“Harper, you’re hopeless, getting your own boyfriend wrong.”
“I’m sorry…”
I choked back a sob, then bit my lip and stole a glance at Kieran.
“Big brother, I’m really sorry about just now, I really got you mixed up…”
Kieran glanced at me: “It’s not your fault. Twins get mistaken for each other all the time.”
Then he looked at Camden.
His voice was calm, but carried a hint of subtle threat.
“Camden, you shouldn’t have been harsh with her just now.”
Camden gave his usual careless smile: “Who told her to be so dumb?”
“Someone who’s shared a bed with me for a year can’t even recognize me?”
“She’s only met me once. It’s normal to mistake us.”
Camden raised an eyebrow: “Fine, I’ll apologize to her.”
Chapter 3
Kieran said nothing more and turned to leave.
Camden stoot there for a few seconds.
Then slowly turned around.
He waved the paper bag in his hand, his gaze calmly settling on my face.
“Go back to the room. Show me where you’re hurt, and I’ll put the medicine on for you.”
