Chapter 13
At the same time, Bella also brought her good news “Natalie, I found a cornea donor for you. The surgery is scheduled for a week from now. How are things on your end?”
Natalie was stunned for a moment. Then, a warm surge of emotion bubbled up in her chest
In the three years she had been blind, her world had been plunged into endless darkness. And now, she had the
chance to see light again—no one would ever truly understand how she felt at that moment
She was so choked up with emotion that it took her five whole minutes to compose herself. “Thank you, Bella
Really, thank you so much.
Hearing the sobbing in her voice, Bella’s heart ached for Natalie. “Don’t be so mushy, Nat. You’re making me
tear up
Then, she changed the subject. “By the way, I heard from Ben that you put that little bitch Sienna into the
hospital? That’s awesome.”
“She deserved it.” Natalie said.
Bella agreed, “That little bitch has been getting on my nerves for some time now. She kept framing you again
and again. If it wasn’t for all the guilt you held over her, I would’ve beaten her up long ago.
Natalie used to feel guilty for taking Sienna’s place for the first 18 years of their lives. That was why she had
never retaliated, no matter what Sienna did to her.
But all the patience had to end sometime.
Sienna had framed her, and Jason had forced her to apologize over something she hadn’t done since they liked
playing the innocent damsel in distress and the hero, there was no reason why Natalie should be merciful
Since Sienna liked framing her so much, she figured she might as well live up to her supposed vicious nature
Therefore, Natalie had gone all out, knowing that it would infuriate Jason. She knew Jason well enough to know
that he would definitely call the police on her
Natalie was confident she could pull it off because she had Benjamin as her fallback. With Benjamin around, she
knew she would be fine
Besides, Jason wouldn’t really have left her to rot in jail. He had just called the police to teach her a lesson. He
might love Sienna, but he loved the child in Natalie’s belly even more
Therefore, Natalie knew that Jason would riot cause any further trouble for her when Benjamin bailed her our
Natalie chatted a bit more with Bella before hanging up. Then, she checked the time—she had another place to
go
“Are you sure you want to erase your identity?” the staff member asked.
“Yes, I’m sure,” Natalie said without hesitation.
Through channels introduced by Benjamin, Natalie successfully erased all her identity records, which would
take effect in five working days.
As she walked down the spacious street, Natalie felt a peace that she hadn’t known before
The end was nearing.
Soon, it was Natalie’s birthday.
Perhaps due to her pregnancy, Jason had prepared an individual birthday party for her this year
In the past, she would always celebrate her birthday at the Spencer residence with Sienna. They claimed to be celebrating both birthdays together, but Natalie was always relegated to the sidelines.
Sienna was the one who wore the birthday hat and the one to blow out the candles and cut the cake. Even the friends and family who attended the celebration only acknowledged Sienna as the birthday girl.
The so–called celebration was just to let Natalie witness how happy and pampered Sienna was
Eventually, Natalie learned not to look forward to her birthday. The brighter Sienna shone, the more miserable
Natalie became It was the same every single year.
This year, Chandler stood before her and told her, “Mr. Pereira even prepared a special gift for you. He plans to
surprise you tonight
If it were before, the knowledge that Jason had taken the effort to give her a birthday surprise would’ve made Natalie cry with joy. But now, she was completely unmoved
Chandler put down the box that contained her gown as he said, “And this dress was specially ordered by Mr Pereira as well. You’ll certainly dazzle everyone when you wear it tonight.
Natalie’s expression was neutral. “Thank you, Mr. Jamison.”
“No problem,” Chandler replied. “It’s all part of my job, after all.”
He was glad that Jason had finally come to his senses and realized whom he would be spending the rest of his life with. He was now treating the right person well, and Chandler couldn’t be happier for Natalie.
“I’ll take my leave now, Mrs. Pereira,” he said.
Natalie nodded. Once Chandler left, she opened the box quietly.
The high–quality silk felt premium just to the touch. Quietly, she said, “Mary, get me a pair of scissors.
