Chapter 18
Stenna was stunned into silence, and she was confused. What did Mossey mean by the game ending there
Mossey wasn’t the type to drag things out, so he turned to leave
She hurried after him and stopped him, forcing a smile “Mr. Rockwell, what do you mean by this? What game?”
Mossey put on his hat and stroked his beard. He said matter–of–factly. “Oh, alright. I’ll be frank with you since you’re so silly. Just two days ago, I finally got my last apprentice to agree to be mentored by rue. She told me to
come here to enjoy this meal, so I did.”
What? Sienna couldn’t help wondering whether she’d heard him wrongly
Mossey was a renowned artist, and everyone in the art world knew of his capabilities. He hadn’t taken on any
new apprentices for over a decade, yet just three years ago, he’d suddenly announced he would be accepting one
last one. However, three years had passed, and he hadn’t announced who the apprentice was.
Sienna had thought it was because there wasn’t anyone who’d caught his eye and that she was a shoo–in for the
role. Up until he’d taken that phone call, she’d thought there was no doubt she would become his last
apprentice.
She couldn’t accept how things had turned out. “Did you ask to meet me just so you could fool me? You never
once thought about taking me on as an apprentice?”
Mossey was infamous in the art world for being eccentric, and his attitude turned icy when he saw how Sienna
was acting. “Ha! You think I’ll take any Tom, Dick, or Harry as my apprentice?
“I’m not trying to be mean, Ms. Spencer, but your so–called artistic talent isn’t even comparable to my
apprentice’s. Do you think I’d even be here if she hadn’t told me to come?”
That infuriated Sienna.
Naturally, Jason had to stand up for her. He shot forward to stand in Mossey’s way. “Mr. Rockwell, I’m willing
to sponsor a hundred million dollars for your future art exhibitions as long as you take Sienna as your
apprentice.”
Mossey eyed him and started laughing as he spoke, “Oh, man. Mr. Pereira, I appreciate talent, not money wouldn’t be interested even if you gave me your whole fortune, let alone just a hundred million dollars.”
He scanned lason arrogantly and shook his head, muttering. “He’s unworthy Totally unworthy!”
Then, he curled his lip disdainfully and left
Sienna broke down once he was gone She burst into tears and screeched, “What should I do, Jason? Help me
think of something! I really want to be Mossey’s apprentice—that’s my only wish! You promised you d help
make it come true!
Jason found the situation challenging. He’d thought everything was signed and sealed before Mossey had taken
that phone call. Who would’ve known things would take such a twist?
He couldn’t bear seeing Sienna upset. He wiped her tears and said, “I won’t break any promises I’ve made to
you. I’ll make your wish come true, okay? I’ll make it happen, no matter what it takes
She looked at him tearily, such a pitiful sight that it would make anyone’s heart soften. She threw herself at him
and wrapped her arms around him, pressing her face to his chest. “You’re the one who treats me best, Jason: If 1
hadn’t married Xavier back then, would we be-”
Jason cut her off before she could continue, “There aren’t any what–ifs in this world, Sienna. I married Natalie,
and I’ll carry out the duty I owe her for life. Besides, she’s now pregnant with my child”
The baby hadn’t come easily. It was true that Sienna was the one who had his heart, but he genuinely looked
forward to the baby’s birth. He would become a father in the near future, and the mere thought of it made his
heart melt
That was not what Sienna wanted, though. To her, Jason had to remain a lapdog at her beck and call for the rest
of his life. How could she let him start forming his own thoughts and opinions?
She wouldn’t let that happen. Everyone’s love and attention had to be focused on her–the world had to revolve
around her.
Cruelty and ruthlessness flashed in her eyes. All of this had happened because of the bastard in Natalie’s belly
Damn it!
