Chapter 11
Chandler paused, momentarily surprised that Jason actually remembered Natalie.
This was truly a rare instance
The drive from the hospital to the police station was only 20 minutes. When they arrived, Jason stepped out of
the car, casually tidying his cuffs and jacket, and walked confidently into the station
His domineering demeanor made him the center of attention as soon as he entered. An officer stepped forward
and asked. “Sit, are you here to file a report, or do you have other business?”
Standing in the middle of the lobby, Jason replied, “I’m here to bail out Natalie Spencer.”
He had ordered Heidi to call the police yesterday, intending to punish Natalie for her reckless and irrational
behavior. This was also the best way to handle the matter, as he needed to give Sienna an explanation as well.
Jason figured that keeping Natalie locked up for one night would teach her a lesson and make her understand
what behavior was acceptable and what was not. He could indulge her and spoil her, but there were some lines
that shouldn’t be crossed.
Otherwise, Natalie would think it would be okay for her to act out just because she was pregnant with his child.
The officer was confused. “Natalie Spencer? She was bailed out yesterday by her lawyer, Mr. Zimmerman. She’s
not here anymore.”
Jason’s expression darkened. “What? She’s already been bailed out?”
“Yes,” the officer confirmed. “Mr. Zimmerman came to get her himself.”
Jason couldn’t believe that Natalie had asked Benjamin for help. No wonder she had been so fearless when she
attacked Sienna at the Spencer residence yesterday. She must have already prepared for the worst–case
scenario, and Benjamin was certainly capable enough to get her released from jail.
She had planned everything in advance.
That woman!
Jason’s brows furrowed tightly. It took him a while to come back to his senses.
After a while, he turned and walked out of the police station. The bright sunlight outside highlighted the grim
set in his sharp features. As soon as he got back into his car, he ordered Chandler to drive back to Avon Ville
During the journey, Jason kept thinking about how he should put Natalie in her place when he saw her later
Ever since she found out she was pregnant, she had changed.
Had she just been acting demure in the past? Was she, like the Spencers had warned him, inherently malicious
and cruel?
Jason took a deep breath, his expression dark.
He needed to give her a serious warning this time so that she knew not to go too far. Being pregnant did not give
her a free pass for everything.
Frustration bubbled in his chest as he said, “Chandler, drive faster.”
“Yes, sir,” Chandler replied.
By the time Jason arrived at Avon Villa, it was already late noon
He went up to the second floor and pushed open the door to the master bedroom. Natalie was quietly sitting
alone on the balcony.
The yellow curtains fluttered slightly in the breeze, slightly obscuring her figure.
All Jason could think of was one word–peace.
He did not love Natalie, but he also didn’t want to ruin the current peace in their life, either. The tranquil life
they’d had thus far was good enough.
Natalie had heard Jason’s footsteps approaching, but she did not move. She was no longer the woman who used
to light up with joy at a mere smile from him, the one who had yearned to be with him every moment
All that remained of her love for him was regret
Jason walked toward Natalie and sat down on the empty chair beside her. “I underestimated you, Mrs. Pereira.”
Bathed in sunlight, Natalie said emotionlessly, “Why aren’t you at the hospital with Ms. Spencer? Did you come all the way back just to scold me? What are you planning to drag me over there to apologize again? Aren’t you afraid I might really kill her?”
Jason glared at her in fury. “Natalie Spencer, do you really think I won’t do anything to you? Do you think you can do anything you want just because you’re pregnant?”
Natalie straightened. “Of course not, Mr Pereira. I’m not that lucky
Jason couldn’t understand her What had gotten into her? She had been fine for three years. After she got pregnant, she had changed, but Jason couldn’t quite put his finger on what had changed.
Was she planning to divorce him?
Jason dismissed the thought immediately. After three years together, he was confident that Natalie loved him
too much to ever leave
Besides, she was pregnant with his child. There was no way she was having second thoughts about their
marriage
It must have been because he had hit her the other day, then. She was sulking
Glancing down at her flat stomach, Jason remembered what Murray had told him the other day and softened his
tone.
Leaning forward, he tried to ease the atmosphere. “I shouldn’t have hit you that day. I was wrong for that,” he
said
“But you shouldn’t have attacked Sienna repeatedly, either. I know you don’t like her, Natalie, that you think
she stole your family’s love and took Xavier from you, but she’s the real daughter of the Spencers. They have
every right to love her
“And if Xavier chose Sienna over you, it just meant that he never really loved you. None of this is Sienna’s
fault”
Why had Natalie never realized that Jason was an expert manipulator? He could lie with a straight face like it
was second nature
Natalie felt as if her heart had been stabbed multiple times. By this point, she was numb to the pain
If that was how it was going to be, then fine. They could all suffer together
Natalie stared ahead. “I don’t resent Sienna, but I did love Xavier. Do you know how much I loved him, Jason I’ve loved him since he saved my life when I was eight years old. If it weren’t for that car accident, we’d never
have broken up
Jason did not love Natalie, but it would still make him uncomfortable to hear his wife talk about being in love
with someone else.
Sure enough, Jason’s expression darkened. His throat tightened After a while, he managed to spit out, “You
still love him?”
Did she still love Xavier?
Of course not. From the moment Xavier hooked up with Sienna, he was dead to Natalie
Even so, he was still miles better than her “dear” husband.
“Probably not. Not anymore,” she said
Her ambiguous answer did nothing to alleviate Jason’s anger. His breathing became labored as he tried to
restrain his anger. “Was I not good enough for you?”
Before Natalie could respond, Jason leaned down and kissed her
His kiss was more aggressive than usual. Between their entangled lips, his tongue swept through her mouth like
he was trying to prove something, but Natalie’s resistance distracted him.
Breathing heavily, his desire apparent, he stared into her eyes. “It’s been days since we last got intimate
Natalie Will you come to bed with me?”
Now that she knew all the despicable things he’d done, Natalie would never let him touch her again.
Her face went pale. She was physically and emotionally revolted. “I don’t want to, Jason.
Jason’s brows furrowed deeper. He leaned closer, placing his hands on the armrests of her chair, and tried to
use his masculine allure to win her over. “Are you still angry?”
Then, he wrapped a strong arm around her waist and lifted her off the chair. “Don’t turn me down, Natalie.
Don’t worry, I’ll be careful. I won’t hurt the baby.
