After being reborn, we exchanged marriage partners.
Chapter 1
My twin sister, Wendy, and I were polar
opposites.
Wendy was all grace and brains, a proper
socialite princess.
I, on the other hand, was the wild child,
always chasing a thrill, a massive headache
for our parents.
Last time around, Wendy married the heir to a
billion–dollar fortune.
I ended up hitched to some loud, nouveau-
riche dude my parents set me up with since
birth.
Turns out, Wendy’s picture–perfect marriage
was a front for crippling depression, and she
ended her life.
My marriage was a dumpster fire from day
one.
I sped to the hospital after hearing Wendy
was gone, but I crashed on the way.
Then, BAM! Wendy and I are both back,
staring at each other on the eve of our
weddings.
I looked at my sister and said, “Wanna switch
places?”
Wendy nodded so hard I thought her head
would fall off. “Yes, please!”
- 1.
They say twins have this crazy telepathic
connection.
Wendy and I were proof.
The second Wendy offed herself, my heart
felt like it was being ripped out, a wave of
pure despair washing over me.
Five minutes later, Mom and Dad called.
Wendy was gone.
She’d slashed her wrists in the bathroom.
Depression, they said.
*I went white as a sheet, tore through the
garage, and floored it towards the hospital.
Except I. lost control on the Lakeview Bridge,
smashed through the railing, and plunged into
the water.
Next thing I knew, Wendy was standing right
in front of me, looking perfectly fine.
Dad was practically bursting with excitement.
“I can’t believe the Sterling family actually
wants to marry into our family! Wendy, you’ve
made your father proud.”
Mom playfully nudged Dad. “Now do you see
why I pushed her to get that fancy degree?
Mrs. Sterling told me they picked Wendy
because she’s smart, well–mannered, and can
guarantee good genes for the next
generation. Otherwise, a catch like this would
never fall into our laps.”
Dad sheepishly rubbed his nose. “I was just
worried all that studying would turn her into a
bookworm.”
Mom went on, “Now that Wendy’s settled,
Wendy will have to marry the Zimmerman’s
family.”
Then, they both turned to me.
Mom softened her voice. “Wendy, the
Zimmerman’s aren’t the Sterling’s, but they
still have hundreds of millions. The marriage
was arranged before you were born, so
there’s no going back. Don’t think your mom
and dad are playing favorites.”
FIRST
I was about to agree when Wendy frantically
shook her head, her face pale.
“No, I don’t want to marry him!”
My stomach dropped.
Wendy wasn’t like me. She had a strong
sense of family and duty. Last time, when she
found out the Sterling’s wanted her as a
daughter–in–law, she jumped at the chance.
But this time, she was refusing.
I had a hunch.
Unless Wendy had been reset like me.
Thinking this, I quickly told Mom and Dad,
“She hasn’t met him, so it’s normal she’s not
used to the idea. Dad, Mom, I’ll talk to her.”
I quickly dragged Wendy upstairs.
