“I promise this time will be different. I’ll be the
ate you deserve.”
In his drunken haze, Garrett spent the night in passion with his visitor.
He whispered my name. Apologized to empty air. Made promises to someone who wasn’t there.
Until the morning sun streamed across the bed.
The harsh light hurt his eyes. His head pounded with hangover pain.
Only then did he see clearly–last night’s companion was Scarlett.
The realization hit him like ice water.
Scarlett leaned against Garrett’s chest like she had no bones.
Her makeup was smeared. Her hair tangled.
She spoke coquettishly: “Garrett, I heard everything you said last night.‘
“You called my name so many
times. It was romantic.”
But Garrett knew he hadn’t called her name. Not once.
“That woman Aria doesn’t deserve your love. Let me be the one to stay with you instead, okay?”
Rage built in his chest. How dare she twist his words?
“I’m an omega–I’m better at bearing children. I won’t be as useless as her.‘
“Useless?” The word exploded from him. “Aria was never useless!”
“I’ll definitely give you a healthy, adorable baby.”
“Get out.” His voice was deadly quiet.
This time, Garrett didn’t get lost in Scarlett’s tenderness.
The spell was broken. The illusion shattered.
He kicked Scarlett off the bed.
She hit the floor with a startled cry.
With a cold expression, he got up and put on his clothes.
“Garrett? What’s wrong? Last night you said-
“Scarlett, you and I were just playing around.”
His voice was ice. All warmth had died.
“The person I love, from beginning to end, has only been Aria. Being with you was just to spite her.”
“But you said you loved me! You said we’d be together!”
“I was drink. And talking to someone who wasn’t here”
“From now on, I’m going to turn over a new leaf. If you dare appear again to destroy our relationship, I definitely won’t let you off!”
Scarlet’s face crumpled “that she’s gone! She left you
When I find her ”
He threw a check at Searler’s Ince
The paper fluttered to the font like a wounded bird.
That’s for your trouble. Buy yourself some self–respect.”
Then he put on his coat and left.
Scarlett’s subs echoed behind him, but he didn’t look back.
Just last night, in his drunken honesty, Garrett had figured it all out.
In this world, he could lose everything, but he couldn’t lose me.
The pack. The money. The status. None of it mattered without me.
No matter what, he had to find me and bring me back.
