Nathan took the punch full–on, didn’t even flinch.
When Lucas threw another one, Nathan caught his fist and said with cold:
“I’ll take one hit, but don’t think I’m afraid of you.”
Lucas jerked his hand away: “You’re a bastard. You knew she was pregnant and you still took her from me.”
They’d been so happy. If it wasn’t for Nathan-
He and Sophia would be married by now! They’d have their kid, living the life they’d dreamed of.
Thinking about this, Lucas swung again, shouting in fury:
‘You married her but treated her like shit. You don’t even love her!”
Nathan didn’t dodge. He tackled Lucas instead, yelling just as angrily:
‘Don’t love her? Then why’d I marry her?!”
Lucas shot back: “That’s not love–that’s control! If you loved her, why’d you cheat?!”
They went at each other, years of hatred finally exploding.
Watching them fight, Sophia’s head suddenly split with pain. Her vision blurred.
Then she collapsed.
eeing her hit the floor, Lucas and Nathan froze mid–punch.
They rushed to her side, panicking and talking over each other: “Sophia, what’s wrong?!”
They immediately called 911 and got her to the closest hospital.
After tests, the doctor pulled them into his office.
The patient is severely stressed. Looking at her medical history, she also has Parkinson’s and major depression.”
Both men stared at him. “Parkinson’s? Depression?”
The doctor nodded. “Yes. We can manage the Parkinson’s, but her depression is seriously affecting her quality of ife. As her family, you need to understand this.”
What does that mean?” Lucas and Nathan’s voices were tight with fear.

“Best case, she forgets things constantly. Worst case, she won’t remember who she is. Keep her happy, and that’s not a suggestion.” The doctor answered and sent them out after that.
Back in her room, Sophia was awake, she was confused again: “Who are you?”
Seeing her conscious, Lucas felt the knot in his chest loosen, with voice gentle, he answered: “Sophia, it’s Lucas. Don‘ you remember? Are you hungry? I can have food brought up.”
Sophia shook her head. “I’m not hungry.”
Nathan scoffed: “Cut the act, Lucas. Playing the caring boyfriend now?”
Lucas ignored him. Their fight had caused her collapse–he wasn’t going to make it worse.
He spoke softly to Sophia: “I’m Lucas. That’s Nathan.”
The tension between them confused her, she asked: “Are you fighting?”
Lucas forced a smile. “No.”
He touched her hair, then motioned for Nathan to follow him outside.
‘What?” Nathan asked once they were outside.
‘We stop hurting her, stop saying hurtful things and no more fighting in front of her. You heard what the doctor
aid.”
Nathan kicked the wall in frustration. “You think I don’t know that? Shit.”
stood there for a moment, then a man in wire–rimmed glasses approached.
