“She’s not here to cause trouble, is she?”
“Ha, what face does she even have to cause trouble? Does she really still think she’s Kyle’s wife?”
“The engagement’s already been announced. Showing up now is just humiliating herself.”
“But she didn’t actually do anything wrong. She was in a relationship, and the guy turned cold and wants to marry
someone else. How is that her fault?”
The guests murmured among themselves.
Most of the people here came for the drama, to watch Candice embarrass herself. Very few spoke in her defense–and
when they did, they were quickly shot down.
The moment Mia Jones saw Candice walking in, her face turned ashen like she’d seen a ghost.
Caroline Jenkins was flustered.
Even more panicked was Kyle. He immediately tried to go over.
“Don’t go!” Mia Jones clung tightly to his arm, trying to stop him. In a panic, and without regard for the occasion, she
raised her voice like the legitimate girlfriend asserting her claim. “Kyle and I are getting engaged! We’re going to be
married soon! Stop pestering him!”
Kyle nearly lost his mind.
But with so many eyes on them, he couldn’t lash out.
He could only lower his voice and snap at Mia to shut up, yanking his arm free from her grip with a cold face.
Mia’s eyes welled up with tears, clearly hurt.
As Kyle took another step, Mike and Jones family’s second son, Norman, stopped him.
Mike said, “Kyle, get a grip! Are you really going to humiliate my sister in public for that woman?”
Kyle: “Let go!”
The onlookers were even more excited now, murmuring growing louder.
Candice had already reached the center of the banquet hall.

She didn’t stop. As she passed a drink table, she picked up a glass of red wine, took a sip with calm poise, and continued
forward.
“What are you trying to do?! Leave right now!”
Caroline Jenkins rushed down from the stage, attempting to block her path.
Kyle shook off the two men’s hands and stepped in front of Candice. His face was icy cold. “Don’t make a scene. Let’s go home and I’ll explain-”
“Are you planning to take a concubine, Kyle?”
Candice interrupted, her tone slow and laced with mockery and scorn.
Kyle’s face darkened.
Mia and the Jones family were instantly furious at the word concubine.
Concubine? That word made it clear–Candice was calling Mia the mistress, even if she married Kyle, she’d only be a
side wife. It was pure provocation.
Even the guests were stunned. Candice really dares to say that? Where does she get the nerve?
Mia Jones was so angry she lost all control of her expression. “Candice, you shameless bitch! I’m the one Kyle loves-
we’re about to be engaged! I’m the legitimate one!”
“Shut up!” Kyle barked.
Caroline Jenkins rushed over to console her, “Mia, be good. Don’t stoop to her level. Let’s not argue.
Candice generously smiled, “No need to stop her. Let her speak.”
“Candice, if you dare say one more word, don’t expect a single cent from the breakup settlement!” Caroline Jenkins
threatened, afraid Candice might blurt out the truth about the hidden marriage.
But then she remembered–they forced her to sign that agreement last night.
Her heart dropped.
Kyle’s eyes narrowed. “What breakup settlement?”
Caroline paled.
“So much for ‘true love‘,” one guest scoffed. “In the end, it’s still all about money.”

“She’s just bitter the sugar daddy dumped her after all these years. Making a scene to squeeze more cash out of it.”
The whispers grew louder.
The Jones family was already displeased with Kyle. Now, hearing Candice took money and still came to cause trouble,
they felt utterly humiliated.
Mike walked over. “Miss Hale, please leave. Or don’t blame us for what happens next.”
“Don’t blame you?”
Candice turned her dazzling gaze on Mike, smiling. “What right do you have to threaten me? In ancient times, even if
Mia Jones married into the family, she’d have to kneel and serve me tea on her wedding night, calling me ‘Elder Sister.“”
Her voice was calm, almost gentle.
Mike was momentarily stunned by her smile, then quickly recovered and thought she must be mad. Absolutely insane!
Others thought the same–Candice had lost her mind.
Mia was furious to the point of laughing hysterically. “Kneel to you? Are you delusional?! What gives you the right to say something like that?! Kneel? I’ll kneel at your grave, how about that?!”
Candice turned to her. “Feeling triggered?”
She put down her wine glass, reached into her purse, and pulled out a red marriage certificate. She flipped it open and
held it up to Mia’s face.
“Now answer me–do I have the right to demand you kneel and toast me?”
Mia stared at the marriage certificate, frozen in place.
The entire banquet hall fell into stunned silence.
Candice and Kyle were married?
Everyone thought she was just an ex–girlfriend making a scene. But now it turned out–she was the wife, and she was here to confront the mistress!
The Jones family’s pride took a massive hit.

“One cheated during marriage, the other seduced a married man–and now they’re shamelessly going public with their
engagement?”
Candice glanced at them like they were fools. “Do any of you even understand the law? Bigamy is a criminal offense!”
The Jones family turned pale.
Madam Jones nearly fainted.
Her daughter had been dating a married man?!
Soon, all of Vanclyn would know her daughter seduced someone’s husband.
Worse yet–she had let Caroline Jenkins parade her around as the future daughter–in–law, even helping her promote it!
“Madam Jackson! How could you hide something so important?!”
“You’ve ruined my daughter’s life!”
The Jones family was furious.
Caroline Jenkins tried to explain, soothe, apologize―utterly panicked.
Kyle pressed his temples, trying to stave off a splitting headache. He’d given up trying to stop the disaster. He just
wanted it to be over.
Candice walked back, picked up her wine glass, and approached Kyle.
She looked at him quietly—the man who had walked with her through youth, into marriage… all the way to this
disgraceful moment.
She raised the wine glass and poured it over his head.
Gasps echoed throughout the room.
Kyle seized her wrist tightly, his face dark as thunder. “Is this what you wanted?”
His grip was strong. The wounds on her wrist reopened under the pressure, as if mirroring her shattered heart. The anger and despair in her eyes turned them bloodshot.
“Let’s divorce.”
She tore her hand away and hurled the empty glass at Mia’s feet.
“Be bound to this pig–you deserve each other!”

Kyle was shaken by her fury.
He opened his mouth to speak, but then noticed his hand was red. He opened his palm–blood.

He panicked and looked at her wrist. The deep red ribbon wrapped around it was soaked. Blood trickled from her palm, one drop after another staining the carpet.
The sight horrified everyone.
The Jones family was just about to pull Mia away. But in that moment of stunned silence, when everyone was watching Kyle and Candice-
Mia suddenly stormed forward and shoved Candice to the ground.
“You filthy whore! All those men last night didn’t finish you off?! You should’ve died!”
