“I couldn’t care less about being your wife, and I loathe you so much. You’re nothing to me.
“Now, piss off!”
She then immediately hung up and blocked all of Isaac’s contact information.

As she turned around, she met the bodyguards’ eyes, which were sparkling with gossip.
Meeting her gaze, they smiled awkwardly and then left the room one by one.
“It’s so stuffy in here. I want to get out for some fresh air.”
“I gotta pee.”
“Hey! Check out that pretty woman over there!”
In no time, they were nowhere to be seen.
The doctor finally finished checking on Erasmo and dealing with the drug in his system. “Fortunately, they didn’t dose Mr. Fenton heavily. I’ve already done a bloodletting on him to flush the drug out. “But someone has to stay with him and look after him tonight. If he has a high fever, call me at once.”
The man in the lead of the bodyguards immediately looked at Nevaeh. “Ms. Tomlinson…

Nevaeh interrupted him at once, “No way. You know clearly about my relationship with him. I don’t think he wants me to take care of him anyway.”
The bodyguard argued, “But me and my fellas can never be as careful as you. Ms. Tomlinson, we’d really appreciate
Fenton. Besides…” it if you could stay tonight to look after M
The bodyguard continued after a pause, “Though it’s a fake marriage, at least you’re paid. I’m sure you can fulfill the duties of Mr. Fenton’s wife, right?”
Trying her best not to roll her eyes, Nevaeh said, “Fine.”
Early the next morning, sunshine streamed through the gaps in the curtains.
Erasmo woke up with a frown, still groggy. He vaguely remembered fragments from the night before.
He couldn’t remember what had happened after he was drowning in water in the bathroom.
His gaze inadvertently landed the spot beside him, and he saw a woman curling up in a ball on the lounge chair beside
the bed.

It was Nevaeh.
He stood up and walked toward the bathroom.
The door wasn’t entirely closed, and a few members of the close protection unit were standing on the other side, doz-
ing.
The faint rustling sound immediately caught their attention. They opened their eyes and met Erasmo’s deep, danger-
ous eyes.
Erasmo said, “Tell Anson to bring me a set of clothes within five minutes.”
“Alright.”
Five minutes later, Anson Riff, Erasmo’s special assistant as well as the captain of the close protection unit, with his hair in a side-parted slicked-back
yle, rushed toward the room with a luxury-brand bag in hand.
The members of the close protection unit signaled him with their eyes, and he knocked on the door and entered, only to be startled by Nevaeh, who was sleeping on the lounge chair.
He was stunned, thinking
“Since when did Mr. Fenton become so close to Ms. Tomlinson?”
He hurriedly turned around while Erasmo extended a strong arm, glistening with water droplets, from the bathroom doorway.
“Anson.”
He hurriedly handed the bag over, whispering, “Mr. Fenton, she…”
Erasmo glanced at him coldly.
“Buy her some breakfast and have two men stay here to protect her.”
Anson widened his eyes and stared at Erasmo’s face, failing to react even after a few seconds.

Nevaeh finally fell asleep just before morning. At 2:00 p.m., her phone rang, jolting her awake.
She struggled to sit up and answered it without opening her eyes.
“Hello…”
Her voice was hoarse, almost like a man’s.
Maya, on the other end of the line, was startled.
She said warily, “Neva? Is that you?”
