Lowering her head to flatten the blanket, she muttered, “You’re my boss.
“Of course, you should take the bed.”
“I’m glad you know your place.”
He walked toward the walk-in closet, took off his jacket, and hung it in the closet.
Behind him, Nevaeh suddenly.remembered something and looked up at his back.
“Mr. Fenton, shall we set some ground rules?”
Erasmo arched an eyebrow. “Do tell.”
Nevaeh counted off on her fingers while saying, “No cheats, no intimate contact, and no real feelings.”
It was a marriage of convenience, but they must remain loyal to each other.
“OK,” Erasmo said concisely and seriously.
That night, she slept on the floor voluntarily.
Maybe it was because of the hard floor-she tossed and turned for a long time but still couldn’t sleep. It wasn’t until nearly midnight that she finally drifted off to sleep.
In the dead of night, she felt something soft beneath her and instinctively reached out to feel it. The smooth texture re- laxed her at once, and she moaned contentedly.
When she opened her eyes again, she was surprised to see herself in bed.
“Did I crawl into bed last night because it was so uncomfortable s on the floor?” she couldn’t help but think.
“Now that you’re up, go and wash up. Grandma and Mom are waiting for you to have breakfast downstairs.” Erasmo’s impatient voice suddenly rang out.
She looked over. Seeing him on the sofa with a document in hand, she wondered how long he had been awake.
She smiled awkwardly, got up, and changed into the clothes he had prepared for her.
“Mr. Fenton, I’m ready.”
“Alright.” He stood up and walked downstairs while holding her hand, his expression unchanged.
“Good morning, Neva,” Leanna smiled brightly at the sight of the two.
Nevaeh scratched her hair, feeling a bit embarrassed. “I’m sorry, Madam Fenton. I got up a bit late.”

“No worries. Young people are entitled to sleep in.” Leanna took her hand while smiling even more happily.
Upon seeing that Nevaeh was without any jewelry or fancy clothes, Leanna handed her an invitation to a jewelry gala.
“Madam Fenton, this is…” Almost choking on her soup, Nevaeh took the invitation while looking at Erasmo with hes- itation.
“I’m not familiar with you young women’s preferences these days. Erasmo will accompany you to pick something out together. It’ll also spare me from making tiresome small talk.”
Leanna was racking her brains, trying to create chances for them to spend more time together.
Nevaeh clutched the invitation as if it were a hot potato. It wasn’t until Erasmo nodded imperceptibly that she smiled and accepted it.
Though they acted like a couple in love in front of Leanna and Acantha, they were complete strangers the moment they left.
After stepping out of the mansion, Nevaeh immediately distanced herself from Erasmo.
She strode away from him so quickly that he frowned. “What is it? Are you embarrassed by walking next to me?”
“What? That’s not true. I’m just following the rules we agreed to,” she said with an awkward laugh, though her tone sounded sincere.
Erasmo arched an eyebrow, his gaze sharp. “We’re going separately then?”
She immediately nodded, praying for the torture to end sooner, or her face might go numb from the fake smile.
They walked till the servants at the entrance couldn’t see them and then parted ways.
“Remember to show up at the gala on time,” Erasmo reminded her.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Fenton. I’ve got professional ethics.” She walked away while waving at him eagerly.
“Alright,” he said flatly and only averted his gaze after she got into the car.
