Chapter 26
Nevaeh hesitated. Harold’s sudden appearance caught her off guard, and she hadn’t decided what to do yet.
“Or maybe you would like to join my studio as a designer, Ms. Tomlinson? With your talent, you will fit right in,” Harold said earnestly, extending a job offer on the spot.
Nevaeh could tell he was genuine. After some thought, she didn’t want to miss out on this chance.
“Since Mr. Larkin is so insistent, let’s meet your teacher first,” she finally agreed.
“That’s great. This way, please,” Harold said, eager to introduce her to his teacher.
But Erasmo was still there. Before Harold could touch Nevaeh, Erasmo knocked his hand away.
“It’s fine to meet your teacher, but keep your hands to yourself,” Erasmo said calmly. He had known who Harold was from the start.
Seeing that Nevaeh didn’t mind, he didn’t interfere.
He had other things to deal with and no time to accompany her to meet some stranger, so he just gestured for Anson to follow them.
“Ms. Tomlinson, why do you like such a fierce man?” Harold whispered to Nevaeh.
Nevaeh forced a smile. “I’m just into guys like him.”
How could she tell Harold that she and Erasmo were not dating?
“My teacher is over there. Ms. Tomlinson, wait a moment,” Harold said, stepping forward to check the situation. But before he came out, someone stopped Nevaeh first.
“Hey, isn’t this Nevaeh? What makes you think you can show up here?” A woman in a fancy dress sneered. “I heard you cut ties with the Tomlinson family. Even a small family like them couldn’t stand you. How did you get in here?”
“Oh, Scarlett, don’t say that. It was also unlucky for the Tomlinson family to have a good-for-nothing like her.”
“Exactly. Anyone who gets mixed up with a good-for-nothing like her is doomed to bad luck.”
Nevaeh frowned and turned around. Sure enough, she saw three familiar faces. These three had always given her a hard time.
What a small world. She bumped into them here.
“Nevaeh, are you mute or something? Did you hear me talking to you?” Scarlett sneered, looking Nevaeh up and down.

“She’s scared, huh?”
A sharp slap echoed through the party. Conversations stopped, and everyone turned to look.
“Scarlett!” Two of the Joyner sisters rushed over to support Scarlett, who was reeling from the slap, their with shock. “You actually slap Scarlett?”
eyes wide
“So what? Is her face made of gold or something?” Nevaeh rubbed her wrist. There was a cold look on her pretty face. “She picked a fight with me first. Was I wrong to slap her?”
“You bitch! You’re so rude in public. No wonder Isaac dumped you.” Scarlett raised her hand, waving the others away. “You’re just some desperate girl who snuck in here, hoping to hook up with a rich guy with your looks, aren’t you?”
Those who didn’t know Nevaeh’s identity started pointing fingers at her.
A few who knew the truth looked at Erasmo, curious about what he would do next.
Erasmo had been chatting with Keeshan. He never thought that in such a short time, Nevaeh would get into trouble again.
“It seems Ms. Tomlinson is quite good at causing trouble,” Keeshan said, his tone mocking as he took a sip from his wine glass. “Aren’t you going to help?”
Erasmo said, “She got herself into trouble. She can get herself out.”
In the crowd, Scarlett had been slapped and wasn’t about to let Nevaeh go easily. Her words were even more offen- sive. “Did I guess right? I knew you definitely didn’t have an invitation.”
